Description Our client a major global financial services provider engaged in retail and commercial banking is seeking a Java Swing Developer Location: NY , NY Fulltime Position Fixed Income Technology is responsible for the development and support of all front, middle and Back Office applications and systems that are used to support Fixed Income business globally. Systems supported are a combination of In-house development and vendor applications, using a variety of technologies. The Fixed Income team is comprised of over 200 staff in London , New York , Tokyo and Singapore . The Fixed Income business aims to be one of the leading liquidity providers in the derivatives and the Government bond markets, and to offer an integrated sales, trading and research service to the client base comprising investor business, corporates, financial institutions and hedge funds. The product offering includes Government Bonds, interest rate swaps, basis swaps, interest rate options & swaptions, FRAs and caps/floors. Main Function The successful candidate will be working on the Trade Capture Workflow system (Spring components hosted on Tomcat) as part of a global development team . The candidate is expected to build an in-depth knowledge of both the technical and business aspects of the system and become an expert in that phase. Working as part of the larger team would see the candidate share their expertise with other members working on other phases. Main Duties As well as project and maintenance development work, the developer will be involved in explaining functionality to the business and other system users. Second line support is required for the parts of the system that are already in production which will involve direct interaction with traders. The candidate will be expected to proactively improve their skills and take on greater responsibilities as their capabilities increase. There are significant opportunities for career development and training. Person Requirements We require an ambitious and dynamic developer who has strong experience of Front Office IT development, preferably in the area of trade capture and downstream processing. The developer will have a good understanding of front to back trade processing. The candidate will also be a strong hands-on Java developer who has taken part in system design. Experience required: 5 + years Java Development, Front Office exposure and experience of complex systems. Familiarity with unit tests and continuous integration is highly desired. Skills: Solid Java Development in an enterprise context with focus on Java Swing, Strong object-oriented design skills and server-side development experience. Knowledge of Fixed Income products, trade flow and trade processing is an advantage.
