Description Our client a major global financial services provider engaged in retail and commercial banking is seeking a Java/KDB Developer Permanent position New Yorl , NY Role: Part of Equity Analytics Tick Data Services Build-The-Bank team in New York , with the following responsibilities: Develop specialized knowledge in Equity Market Data, sharing that knowledge, as required, with global teams Work with Quant research and Trading desks on potential process improvements Liaise with development teams on applications access to Market Data Take ownership of issues through to resolution or escalation, as appropriate Pro-actively improve the quality of systems and service, and increase business value Exposure/Knowledge and willingness to build expertise in KDB+/Q (Kx technologies product). This is a niche technology. We would require people with knowledge in this technology for enhancing and supporting the platform. Intermediate level knowledge of Core Java is required to build the interfaces and components into the analytic data. Main Duties Required Experience Strong Computer Science background. 2-3 years of experience in Core Java Some hands-on experience with KDB+/Q. Knowledge of Market Data technologies and/or direct experience with Wombat/Reuters is a plus. Equities product knowledge is a plus. Platform & Tool Skills/Aptitude Unix/Linux SQL (RDBMS) Scripting (eg Python, Perl/shell) Experience with source control tools (eg CVS/SVN/Perforce) Good verbal and written communication, work well with users, able to work well in a cross-disciplined team and independently with minimum supervision. Pro-active, thorough, organized and energetic. Excellent problem solving skills with a commitment for thorough root cause analysis Preferred Experience Familiarity with Market Data technologies and data access mechanisms Knowledge of Exchange practices and policies. Familiarity with processing of large data volumes. Knowledge of MarketData vendor products like FastTick, MarketQA Platform & Tool Skills/Aptitude Microsoft Windows Issue tracking tools: ClearQuest, HP Service Centre, Jira
