Description Our client, one of the top US investment banks, offering securities underwriting and trading, mergers and acquisitions advice, research, private equity investment, and risk management products, is seeking an Application Development and Support Engineer. Location: New York , NY Contract position As an Application Development and Support Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for the technical analysis, design, development and maintenance of business applications within the PTT-Client Services organization. Work will include all aspects of software development lifecycle with a focus on Java development using J2EE standards. Candidate must have a solid understanding of Database Management Systems and Reporting technology with proven experience working in a multi-tiered environment. Candidate should be well versed in production support type activities, testing techniques and should be able to produce comprehensive test cases for all developed code. Candidate must also support and participate in system and integrated testing across sub-systems as the need arises. Candidate should be capable of producing solid documentation both inside code and external design specifications. Design, Develop, Test and Maintain Business Applications Provide Production Support by fixing production bugs and defects in the application code Support Application Infrastructure which includes system maintenance, ensuring proper functioning of multiple environments (DEV, QA, PROD) Support User Acceptance Testing activities Provide on-call production support to business users Qualifications: Proficient in Java development (at least 3 years) Proficient in Reporting technology Knowledge of Oracle and Sybase (at least 3 years) Strong understanding of J2EE server technologies: web services, XML, EJB, JMS Understanding of Application Security tools and protocols such as LDAP, PKI etc. Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle process Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and time management skills Team player Strong Analytical and troubleshooting skills
