I. Position Summary:
Plan, coordinate and manage projects between Information Technology (IT) and assigned business units. Responsible for leading all aspects of the project from start to finish, including project team definition, project planning, documentation, vendor selection contract management, product purchasing, full project execution, tracking, reporting, rollout, interface with Training and other groups, and formalized project closure.
II. Essential Functions:
Project Manager - Specific Functions
? Leads all aspects of the project from start to finish, including project team definition, resource allocation decisions with Managers of each IT discipline, stakeholder interfaces, project planning, functional & technical documentation, vendor selection and vendor contract management, product purchasing, full project execution, tracking, reporting, rollout, interface with Training and other groups, and formalized project closure
? Manages IT's relationship with one or more business units for all IT projects, including both software development and infrastructure projects
? Interfaces with JetBlue business units as first point of contact for all projects involving large Crewmember moves or the development/design of new facilities
? Gathers feedback from JetBlue departments regarding needs and desires for new buildings or space
? Collaborates with IT Crewmembers (Server, Network, Desktop, development or Telecom) to support those needs
? Coordinates with all Crewmembers to ensure project needs are clearly understood and supportable
? Guides business units in defining new IT projects, documenting the business need for the project, and preparing the project for evaluation in the project prioritization process
? Enables business units by defining high-priority projects which support JetBlue's business objectives, and leverage the technologies and systems composing IT's technology vision
? Identifies and removes or mitigates obstacles and risks to the project
Manager Level - Core Functions
? Assists Crewmembers in prioritizing new development projects, enhancement projects for existing systems, and systems maintenance projects
? Interfaces with IT Station Crewmembers for projects in Blue Cities (i.e. gate move, ticket counter move, new ramp office)
? Works closely with project teams, vendors and other groups to coordinate plans and activities
? Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change
? Provides guidance and assesses requirements for additional services and promote use of IT services, where appropriate
? Makes recommendations regarding scope, timeline or budget changes/improvements
? Manages a portfolio of multiple projects simultaneously, potentially across multiple business units
? Enables project team members to excel
III. Minimum Qualifications:
? Bachelor's Degree in related discipline with specialized leadership training and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and education
? Experience with industry standards in project management and development methodologies (PMBOK, MSF, SEI, Agile Methods, RUP, etc.)
? Project Management Professional certification preferred
? Five (5) to ten (10) years experience in managing IT project portfolios
? Regular attendance and punctuality
? Organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion
? Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
? Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
? Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
? When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
IV. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Project Manager - Specific Competencies
? Knowledge of the Project Management Institute's PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge)
Manager Level - Core Competencies
? Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Project, Excel, Word and Visio
? Knowledge of technology fundamentals and concepts (Microsoft technologies preferred)
? Knowledge of JetBlue's IT disciplines and interdependencies
? Knowledge of JetBlue's business units and how their needs drive IT work
? Knowledge of budget processes
? Strong interpersonal, leadership and managerial ski
