Basic Function:
As part of M&T's T&BO/Information Security team, the Information Security Compliance Analyst (ISCA) assists in providing centralized compliance expertise to: M&T Bank Corporation business lines, support functions and managers concerning regulatory compliance regarding privacy and information security; and to Technology & Banking Operations Division on all applicable regulations dealing with financial institutions.
Responsibilities:
Provide compliance related analytical and administrative support to the IS Compliance team.
Conduct periodic compliance reviews and testing in accordance with business plan.
Assist business unit constituents with the completion of self-assessments on how compliance regulations are achieved, documented, monitored and tested.
Develop and deliver training in different media to all levels of employees.
Validate the integrity of current and/or new compliance policies and procedures.
Assist with minimizing the Bank's exposure to potential regulatory penalty assessments that may impede the profitability of M&T Bank.
Interact with various levels of management
Interact with various internal and external audit/examination functions.  These can include the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the New York State Banking Department, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
The ISCA assists with documenting and communicating proposed new approaches, methods, technologies or breakthroughs in the area of Information Security Compliance.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree or above or must have at least 5+ years experience in related working environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management and peers throughout the organization.
The ability to research and report on compliance related topics using a variety of sources (example: Internet search, IS affiliate organization, government agencies, etc.) and techniques.
Proficient personal computer skills that at minimum include the ability to create spreadsheets and word processing documents.
Proven experience with MS Word, Excel, Group Wise or another e-mail package.
Knowledge of MS Access and FileNet.
Ideal Qualifications:
Expertise in the field of Information Security is advantageous
Prior familiarity with compliance regulations such as Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other privacy laws and initiatives is beneficial
General understanding of bank systems and operations
General understanding of project life cycle methodology
Familiarity with development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Diplomatic negotiating skills
Ability to learn quickly
Ability to manage several activities simultaneously in an organized fashion
Sound analytical abilities
Proven problem-solving skills to assist in detecting potential issues and issue resolution
Flexible and adaptable to change.
Good attention to detail
