Network Administrator in MONTGOMERY, NY

The Network Administrator position provides day-to-day technical support, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting for a Windows/Mac/Linux networked environment encompassing an in-house Local Area Network as well as a remotely hosted Internet operation. This position will function as a lead IT resource and provide administrative support duties on a daily basis to Senior Management and Staff.



These duties include the monitoring of system logs, responding to system error messages, patching systems, writing and deploying automation scripts using crontab, perl, and/or php and performing system upgrades. The right candidate will have the opportunity to use the latest technologies and tools to help maintain the Company's network and computers. This includes engineering changes to the network infrastructure, configuration of production servers and maintaining the highest levels of network and systems availability. This position reports to the VP of Technology.

Responsibilities:

*Monitor, support, and recommend any changes to the Local Area Network
*Setup, configure, and qualify server operating systems and applications
*Evaluate and implement vendor hardware and software patches to resolve errors and security issues.
*Monitors, evaluates, and corrects outages to the LAN, WAN, Firewall, and remote access services.
*Works within and participates in the Change Control process.
*Off-shift and on-call support is required.

Experience:

*5 - 7 years experience
* Strong background with UNIX/Linux and Windows 2003/XP operating systems, as well as MAC end users and software support

* Business process automation using scripts, databases, and scheduled tasks (backup, data import/export, some basic GUI)
*Experience with IIS and Apache
* 4-year technical degree desired and/or equivalent experience
* Certifications a plus
* Experience working with and creating compliance documentation preferred.
* Knowledge and/or experience with the following is a plus:
o Firewalls
o Backup Solutions
o Set-up and maintenance of Cisco routers and switches
o SNMP based tools
* Proven troubleshooting skills.
* Good organizational skills with respect to time management and change management
* Positive attitude and excellent customer service and communication skills
