The IT Director is responsible for all aspects of Information Technology including providing troubleshooting and maintenance of the network infrastructure devices, network security devices and communications links, as necessary, to assure operational availability. He/she focuses on both hardware and software aspects of IT operations across single platform LAN/WAN configuration.

Responsibilities
• Provide appropriate best practices implemented around hardware/software development/deployment and support; ensure hardware and software standards are developed, enforced and communicated
• Experience in managing technical vendors in an IT outsourced environment, including:
• Due diligence and contract negotiations
• Budget preparation and monitoring of actual
• Monitoring/assessment of agreed on Service Level Agreements as per contract
• Primary point of contact in vendor relationship(s)
• Vendor performance evaluation
•
• Perform Personnel Resource Management functions, to include:
• Skill evaluations, training, cross-training
• Mentoring
• Performance evaluation
• Career/succession planning
• Key member of the team that builds the IT Disaster Recovery plan, as it relates to business application recovery
• Monitor, troubleshoot and administer the LAN / WAN schedules
• Install, configure and maintain all network hardware, software and monitoring tools.
• Perform routine network related activities including IOS upgrades, switch port activation, firewall rule changes etc.
• Maintain technical documentation as required, Incident and problem resolution,
• Manage and maintain network security devices
• Implement change requests in an accurate and timely manner
• Talk with managerial, administrative and technical staff to determine information needs, data flows and systems definitions
• Establish and control systems access and security
• Coordinate protocols for operation within multi-user IT networks that provide voice, data and text transmission
• Check systems in order to optimize performance and to initiate recovery action after system failures
• Implement regular housekeeping procedures, including data backup
• Manage the distribution and retention of data on various storage devices
• Coordinate system updates and replacement of 'old' versions
• Maintain data dictionaries
• Provide day-to-day advice to users on data structures and terminology
• Provide assistance in testing new equipment and systems
• Prepare technical reports on the operation of systems
• Prepare systems cost estimates and cost-benefit analyses
• Coordinate the work of support staff
• Provide training in systems use and access.
• Provide after-hours on call support
Experience: Qualifications
• Ten to twelve years of experience in a comparable position in a similar sized company or can assume responsibilities based on current responsibilities in a larger company
• Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley or an IT controls environment utilizing best practices (ITIL, CoBIT, etc.)
• Extensive functional and/or technical knowledge supporting at least two or more business disciplines such as sale order processing, purchasing, inventory, finance, etc. in a financial services/funding business environment
• Deep understanding of transactional systems and the ERP marketplace. Experience successfully implementing Great Plains, Oracle, or other ERP solutions; has worked in a Shared Services technology environment and has ability to manage multiple vendors
• Current technology platform includes Great Plains Dynamics 9.0 running in a SQL Server database and SBT running in a FoxPro database
• Proficient in
• Great Plains Dynamics or similar mid sized company business software
• System Development LifeCycle Methodology (SDLC)
• IT Project Management
• Microsoft Office Professional
• Crystal Reports/FRX development and maintenance
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient problem solving and critical thinking skills
• SQL Server/Oracle DBA capabilities
• Microsoft Domain Administration & Active Directory
• Understanding of transactional systems and the ERP marketplace
• Strong knowledge of Internetworking standards
• Strong knowledge of VPN technology, PIX firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems and CSM
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems
• Strong knowledge of LAN / WAN technologies and protocols, TCP/IP, QoS, EIGRP, NAT etc
• Strong understanding of packet sniffing and corresponding tools
• Strong understanding of Wireless protocols and technology
• Ability to work well within all levels of user and peer community
• Self-starter, motivated and professional
• Good planning and organizational skills
• Results oriented
• University degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
• Cisco certification an asset
• VoIP and Telephony experience an asset

Working Conditions
• The position requires concentrated use of sight and touch at a computer terminal
• The incumbent must work under tight deadlines, conflicting priorities and changing project deadlines
• The incumbent must be able to react quickly to resolve technical problems and work overtime on occasion to meet deadlines and to implement changes with minimal impact to the end users
• The incumbent is required to travel to remote locations
