UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our Brooklyn, NY team. The successful candidate should possess a minimum of eight years experience with writing application software, data analysis, data access, data structures, data manipulation, databases, programming, testing and implementation, technical and user documentation, software conversions; environments include but are not limited to personal computers, laptops; available to assist and/or lead in the design of program specifications and the implementation of software solutions. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Create web-enabled and printable maps using ESRI mapping software. 2. Produce ad hoc data analysis reports in multiple formats. Must possess excellent communication skills; and must be able to prioritize and handle multiple projects.3. In addition, the selected candidate will perform project management tasks in the following areas: o Create and maintain mapping and geographic information system (GIS) projects for internet and internal use including analysis, design, production, programming, database maintenance and implementation of GIS projects. o Create and maintain related project documentation. o Serve as liaison for the GIS function with other departments and/or agencies. o Evaluate and recommend various hardware/software acquisitions to produce maps, and other geographic information initiatives. o Lead role for the installation, setup, performance and maintenance of ESRI ARC/SDEUNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC is an enterprise integration company focused at delivering IT solutions to both government agencies and commercial entities. Experience: To be considered for the position, candidates must possess the following mandatory skills and experience:1. Knowledge of the laws, regulations and principles pertaining to the preparation and maintenance of maps.2. Experience with principles and techniques of cadastral drafting.3. Advanced knowledge of leading GIS software such as ArcGIS 8, ArcView 3X, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, and MapInfo Professional.4. Experience with ESRI mapping software installation and programming.5. Ability to develop internet mapping applications using JavaScript, VB Script, Visual Basic, SQL Server, HTML/XML/ASP and ASP.Net6. Experience with modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment, including a working knowledge of MS Office 2003 Suite.Candidates with the following desirable experience will be considered first:1.
