Cash Equities Business Analyst in New York, NY

A large financial institution located in Manhattan is seeking 2 strong candidates to work on their Business Analysis team who come from a cash equities environment. This spot is a long term contract, starting at 6 months +.

Position Summary
The Business Analyst (BA) has the primary responsibility to elicit, analyze,
validate, specify and verify requirements and specifications. This position will
provide this service as directed by the project stakeholders directly to the
business, technology and end users. The BA serves as the conduit between
the business or customer community and the software development team.
This position will directly report into the Equities Central BA team for best
practices/standards and project prioritization.
A BA is involved at some level throughout the entire system or software
development life cycle. When the requirements baseline is established at
the end of the Requirements and Design phases, the focus is shifted
towards the management of the requirements specification and verifying
the fulfillment of all requirements during the Implementation and Testing
phases.
Business coverage and Location
This position will cover Business Analysis for the Global Cash Equities business
but will be based in North America. However, if there is a strong candidate
based in London this will be considered.

Job Responsibilities
. Work closely with project managers, lead developers and business users to
formulize a business idea and define requests.
. Interview business users, subject matter experts and Technology resources
to elicit requirements.
. Analyze gathered requirements data, verify requirements and create functional
specifications.
. Work with Development and QA teams to transition business requirements
into their respective parts of the development process.
. Work with subject matter experts to produce relevant artifacts e.g. process
flow charts, architectural diagrams, and design documents.
. Create user documentation such as user guides, quick reference guides,
and release notes.
. Create functional & technical documentation such as Functional
specifications, Use Cases & other UML based diagrams.

General Experience Requirements
. Minimum of 3 years experience as a Business Analyst supporting
Cash Equities.
. 5 years Equities market knowledge and a strong familiarity with
trading, trading workflows, and trading technology is essential.
. Exposure to Business Process Modeling would be an added
benefit.
. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Specific Business Experience Requirements
Any candidate would be expected to have strong working knowledge and
previous experience in the area of Equities Sales and Trading from a sell
side investment bank perspective covering Equities markets in the major
centers i.e. New York, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo.
