I. Summary of Position



Coordinates individually or leads a team in providing centralized information security technical consulting services for all centralized and distributed computer systems, products, technologies, as well as network data security. Ensures adherence to Group and local policies, procedures, and standards.



II. Principal Accountabilities



1. Understand, implement and consult on the various encryption policies, procedures, and standards.



2. Develop project plans to eliminate or correct information security exposures, enhance information security controls and upgrade security software packages or security hardware devices.



3. Monitor the status of information security through participation in security reviews and risk assessments. Identify security exposures, recommend corrective action and propose data security enhancements.



4. Develop corporate-wide information security awareness training programs for security coordinators and applications programmers.



5. Train and provide direction to all Information Security consulting positions.



6. Technically define infrastructure security products, security interfaces and exits implemented on computer systems throughout the corporation.



7. Provide solutions for and participate in corporate computer disaster recovery tests.



8. Provide recommendations to senior security management on security product features and new enhancements.



9. Maintain a high level of technical expertise in the internal architecture of computer systems.



10. Coordinate and provide after hour and weekend support as required.



11. Evaluate and recommend security software packages and hardware devices to control access to information stored on computer systems.



12. Review application systems design and implementation to ensure data integrity, security, and reliability.



13. Provide backup support responsibilities for other Consultants.



14. Ensure compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards.



15. Complete other related duties as assigned, support the Company’s Diversity programs.



16. 10 - 20% travel required. Experience: III. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

This position requires an individual with:

* A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and ten to twelve years progressive experience in a data processing position including minimum of five years experience working with diverse security products.

* In-depth experience with various encryption products implemented in a corporate environment. This includes installation, configuration and documentation of both the software and any key management procedures.

* In-depth experience with various centralized and distributed processing platforms (i.e., OS/390, PCs, HP, SUN, NOVELL, AIX, etc.); strong written and verbal communication, project management, problem-solving skills; the capability of taking risk commensurate with responsibility; and proficiency in multiple technical disciplines, analytic and quality assurance techniques.
