Analyst Programmer - Mid-Level in White Plains, NY

Overview
This position must be replaced to maintain the work level, meet client demands and improve quality in the various OPICS modules including Core, Treasury, Derivatives and Capital Markets modules. This programmer analyst will work developing and supporting these modules. They will be involved in all levels of the software development cycle (requirements definition, project estimating, technical design, coding and system test support) as well the analysis of client support calls and bug fixing. The position reports to the project manager of the team.


The Role
This position will:
. Produce program specifications.
. Attend design reviews where applicable.
. Discuss requirements with client (external or internal) when appropriate.
. Accurately estimate effort for self and others, and agree schedules with manager.
. Code and unit test software.
. Create and maintain appropriate documentation.
. Deliver software to internal / external client.
. Provide support for delivered software.
. Escalate product issues and suggest product improvements, using appropriate processes.
. Consider impact of any change on the system/product as a whole.
. Escalate issues in a timely fashion.
. Closely liaise with Project Manager, keeping them informed of progress.

Skills required
The following skills are essential:
. Min 3 years of financial software development experience.
. Major in Computer Science or related degree.
. Minimum of GPA of 3.0.
. Knowledge of software development cycle.
. Strong analytical skills.
. Experience, gained in either a financial institution or software vendor of the following:
o Relational databases: Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase.
o SQL skills and query optimization.
o Microsoft technologies: VB, .NET, Access.
. Strong self management skills, particularly in respect to prioritization and execution.
. Strong technical aptitude.
. Must be able to work alone or in a team environment.
. Self-motivated.
. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.


A distinct advantage for this position would be
. Experience working with / for another software vendor or financial institution
