Our client is seeking a mid-level .NET/SQL Server web application developer for the launch, ongoing development, maintenance and user support of its Collateral Builder web application.
This position entails the launch, continued development and support of a new web application that takes online orders for collateral materials that are subsequently printed and distributed by the company. This web application is hosted in a content managed web portal referred to as DotNetNuke, which includes custom modules specific to the company. The web application is served by a SQL Server 2005 data store.
After launch of this web application, the candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, optimization, ongoing design of various .NET web application components and SQL Server database components. The candidate will provide user support, user training and training materials. The candidate will perform project management duties in response to application change requests, functionality enhancements, problem correction and web project planning.
In addition the candidate will be responsible for extending the functionality of the web application to encompass other products and services provided by the company. In some cases the candidate will re-purpose existing web applications/components to meet this objective. Candidate will be expected to follow .NET best practices.

Experience: The selected candidate must posses good communication skills to discuss feature suggestions, user inquiries, management summaries and to conduct instructor-led training for internal employees. The candidate must have Help Desk experience. The candidate will be required to write functional and technical specification documents, status and management reports as well as user training materials.
Candidates for this position must possess the following skills:
1. A thorough understanding of ASP.NET 2.0 of the Microsoft .NET Framework, version 2.0, with the ability to utilize ASP.NET in a manner consistent with .NET best practices.
2. A thorough understanding of ADO.NET 2.0 of the Microsoft .NET Framework, version 2.0, with the ability to implement a layered application design in terms of data access.
3. Good web page user interface design skills in a portal web application environment (experience with DotNetNuke is a plus).
4. Strong Visual Basic.NET code development skills (classic Visual Basic coding skills only are not a substitute for this requirement).
5. Proficient with the Visual Studio.NET IDE including interface and code design, debugging, solution management and Visual Studio.NET add-in tools. Candidate must at least demonstrate proficiency with Visual Studio.NET 2003, but will work with Visual Studio.NET 2005 exclusively.
6. Strong SQL Server skills including data analysis, database design and stored procedure development. SQL Server database administration (DBA) skills are a strong plus.
7. A good understanding of best practices within the .NET technologies and the SQL Server environments.
8. Verifiable writing and verbal communication skills, specifically concerning project documentation, user training materials and telephone-based user assistance.
Candidates for this position must have the following minimum work background:
1. Three (3+) recent years web application development specifically using the .NET technologies.
2. At least three (3) years SQL Server database design and stored procedure development within the last five (5+) years.
3. At least one (1) year SQL Server related DBA experience within the last five (5) years is a plus.
4. At least two (2) years instructor-led training experience or (2) years on a user Help Desk within the last ten (5) years.
5. Experience with DotNetNuke is a plus. Experience designing DotNetNuke custom modules is a strong plus.
6. At least one (1) web application in the last three (3) years where candidate was primarily responsible for re-purposing an existing web application based on older Microsoft technology (such as classic ASP) to the .NET Framework.
7. At least three (3) web applications in the last three (3) years where candidate was primarily responsible for a new web application’s design, deployment, pre-launch configuration and initial debugging.
