Job Description
This position primarily consists of the technical ownership of backend data processing for an ASP ad serving system.
The backend system currently handles over 12 billion transactions daily and publishes multiple aggregations to several data warehouses. The current technologies used are mostly Ab Initio (ETL tool) and C++ running on Linux and Windows publishing to an Oracle database.
The key responsibility of the position is the design of the backend system to ensure scalability, stability, functionality, cost and development velocity. The candidate is also responsible for technically leading the development team to achieve these goals.
The team works using an agile software development methodology called SCRUM.
The backend is one subsystem of a larger ad serving system. The candidate is responsible for interacting with the technical leads/architects for other parts of the system to ensure that the overall goals of the ad serving system are met.
Role & Responsibilities:
Responsibility primarily consists of the design and technical ownership of the DART backend data processing systems.
Minimum Job Requirements / Skills:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 10+ years of overall experience with at least 3 years is a similar role
- High volume backend data processing design and development (billions of transactions daily)
- Managing terabytes of daily data in a SAN environment
- ETL tool knowledge (especially Ab Initio)
- Distributed computing framework experience
- Data warehouse design including high volume loading/unloading (Oracle experience preferred)
- Windows and Linux/UNIX application development experience (C++ preferred)
The position requires leadership skills and the ability and desire to educate and share knowledge.
The position requires the ability to work with a team to coordinate changes.
The candidate should have a firm understanding of software development processes, especially agile approaches such as SCRUM.
The candidate should be interested in coding as well as a design.
