Java Developer with Mutual Funds/brokerage in New York, NY

Genesis10 currently has 2 full time permanent opportunities based in New York City for one of the largest fund companies in the United States.
The Java developer/Programmer Analysts will support and/or develop applications that interface with various vendor products, utilizing junior-level expertise in the areas of design, coding, testing and implementing software. Primary applications will support trading and accounting functions, interfacing with Bloomberg and DST. There will be integration with mainframe-based applications as well.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Candidate will maintain existing applications that are written mostly in Java. These applications are interfaces between various vendor products (Bloomberg, PAS/DST, etc.) and mainframe applications.
- Translate functional specifications into technical design, and develop new interfaces and Internet applications using Java technology.
- Learn the functionalities of the vendor products, and act as liaison between business users and vendors.
- Work closely with other IT technical staff and business users in the organization, as well as representatives from the various vendor products.
Experience: Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or similar.
- 3 - 5 years experience in a web development environment required.
- Knowledge of mutual fund or brokerage business is desirable.
- Software development using OOD techniques, good understanding in multi-tier application development, Internet applications development on systems that include technologies like Java, J2EE, JSP, Struts, EJB, IBM WebSphere, and Windows OS.(Keys are strong core Java & J2EE)
- Experience with SQL and DB2 required. (Just SQL ok for the Jr Role)
- Knowledge of MVS (mainframe) applications, TSO, and Cobol is a plus.
- Excellent problem solving, design, development, and debugging skills. Ability to work with multiple projects and teams. Willing to learn and adopt new and emerging technologies.
- The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and work with minimal supervision.
