Linux/Windows-Description:

The Systems Engineer / Network Administrator will be responsible for the support and enhancement of large scale, high-traffic website / network infrastructure.
Responsibilities:

What you will do:
« Manage a remote co-located set of production and staging web sites, including multiple web servers, database servers and email servers ¡V both Windows and Linux platforms
« Manage in-house software development servers and workstations
« Design, implement and support mission critical Linux/Windows server solutions
« SQL server database administration including setup, replication, backup, etc
« Understand and promote standards, guidelines and policies for the use and integration of server technology
« Implement and review backup and recovery strategy to ensure file system integrity and that business requirements are met
« Review the environment and proactively implement changes to reduce problems and work stoppage
« Analyze performance indicators such as system's response time, number of transactions per second, number of concurrent processes, resource usage such as memory and disk space, streams and semaphores
« Implement changes to system software and parameters to ensure maximum system operating efficiency and availability
« Review and analyze vendor-supplied utilities, software packages and engineering releases for the environment
« Create, test and verify written description of steps necessary to modify systems and procedures required to implement new software and hardware
« Support separate production, staging, development, QA, backup and replicated systems
« Use / install monitoring software as needed
« Expand web-metrics across overall architecture
« Maintain remote exchange server
« Advise on in-house IT infrastructure, firewalls, DNS servers, etc.
« Setup/tune network components
« Assist with SLAs with external clients
« Evaluate, select, integrate, and implement new system architectures, tools and techniques
Experience: Linux/Windows

What you need to know:
« 5 plus years system administration experience, ideally supporting 24/7 high traffic commercial web systems and web services
« Experience in SQL database administration; should have some coding experience with SQL, performance tuning, scripting, triggers, stored procedures, etc.
« Experience with low-latency network mirroring at multiple locations
« Linux networking and Linux system admin experience with bind, exim/postfix, Apache/Apache HTTP Server
« Technical experience with Unix / Linux / FreeBSD, MS Windows 2003, and Active Directory / LDAP
« Technical experience with Network monitoring and management tools like OpenView, Tivoli, Unicenter or Nagios.
« Experience defining multi-tiered web system infrastructure environments (IIS and/or Apache, running ASP or ASP.NET or Java or PHP or Python or similar based web applications)
« Requirements gathering and analysis
« Strong system administration skills in a high volume consumer facing web server environment
« Experience supporting multiple disciplines including production, development, staging and QA
« Ability to analyze a problem at a system level and determine the root cause at a technical [detail] level
« Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly to solve technical problems
« Ability to document procedures for use by other engineers
« MCSE and other relevant certifications
« Excellent written and verbal communication skills
