BASIC FUNCTION:As part of M&T's Central Operations division, the Project Manager would provide supervisory/management support along with providing project support on a variety of new and on going projects. RESPONSIBILITIES:Represents Central Operations on bank wide initiatives and provides project management support to the various business areas within Central Operations.Coordinates project related tasks, effectively communicates and develops a professional level of cooperation across the organization.Maintains a thorough understanding of the business environment being supported; its functions, operations and strategic direction.Ability to understand technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem. Brings issues to resolution and escalates issues or concerns to the Project Sponsor.Manages and oversees the execution of project plans for any scope; ensures adherence to Project Management standards and procedures, including all documentation requirements.Reviews project assessments and prepares initial project costs; tracks actual costs during the life of the project.Responsible for the business requirements gathering, planning and documentation process.Completes status reports and presents deliverables for project milestones to senior management.Assigns resources and monitors progress of all assignments; ensures completion of schedules.Responsible for short and long term FTE Planning.Responsible for the job growth and career development of staff members by providing training plans, guidance and sharing knowledge.Responsible for performance appraisals.Must be able to contribute to the development of a cost center budget.Recommends and initiates new policies and procedures that will improve the performance effectiveness of the department.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of two to four years’ college with at least seven years experience in project related work and systems analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Prior management/supervisory experience required.Experience on large system enhancements, conversions and production problem resolution.Requires a complete understanding of a project life cycle methodology.Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to present to all levels of managementExcellent analytical, problem resolution, organization and time management skills.Asserts ideas, encourages teamwork and acts as a role model when leading and directing resources.Demonstrates diplomatic negotiating skills and excellent interpersonal skills.Detail oriented and self motivated.IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree or above preferred.Good understanding of the bank’s business plan and strategic objectives.Possesses a broad understanding of the bank and of the business unit’s role and how they fit into the organization.
