We are looking for a contractor or a consulting firm to port a software application from DOS to Linux. The product is a calorimeter for measuring BTU level from a gas stream. The current software is a DOS application that controls the analog and digital I/O for the calorimeter. It is written in C++. The new software will be ported to Slackware Linux operating system using QT graphical application framework. The single board computer vendor already has Linux drivers for the analog and digital I/O. The new software will also include Modbus communication over RS-485 based on our own Modbus library. It will also have a new GUI design.
Experience: To summarize the scope of the work:
. Port existing DOS application written in C++ to Linux environment
. Modify existing code to use new Linux I/O drivers
. Integrate existing Modbus library into application
. Design and implement new GUI
The software needs to be completed by mid November. The contractor can work on-site or off-site.
A related project is to create an OPC (OLE for Process Control) driver for the calorimeter. This can be done by a second contractor. The OPC driver shall provide the software interface for accessing the calorimeter measurement values and parameters. There is no requirement for the programming language and toolset.
