New York ( USA ) - Prestigious Hedge fund seeks Trading operations specialist (Unix/linux) Unix/Linux, Windows, Oracle, SQL,Sybase Circa $150,000 plus significant bonus package Prestigious Global Hedge fund seeks a talented individual (unix/linux) who can play a key role in the day-to-day operations of high-frequency proprietary trading systems. You must be able to understand the intricacies of a complex production trading environment, to quickly determine the source of problems, and resolve issues promptly. You will manage day-to-day operations for a high-frequency financial trading system, provide technical/operational support for daily trading operations: First Point of Contact and perform systems development and maintenance to support new trading initiatives. Successful trading operations specialists (unix/linux) will exhibit the following talents; BS, MS, or PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science or other technical field. Previous experience in software engineering and/or operational support. Previous experience in working with and managing massive data sets is highly desirable. Previous experience in system administration and hardware management. High level of expertise in systems programming on UNIX, Linux, Windows, and database systems (Oracle, Sybase - SQL). High level of expertise in a variety of Scripting languages (eg Perl, Awk, Bash). Familiarity with C/C++ and Java is a plus. Keen interest and aptitude for both mathematics and finance is required. Total compensation is highly competitive, dependent on experience and performance. Above all, raw talent and high expertise in systems programming (unix/linux) and support is a must. For this role within a flexible and unique team, frequent interaction with business users and technologists across the firm and around the globe will be required, therefore you must have excellent communication skills.
