JOB SUMMARY
A Manager, Business Consulting in Sapient’s Trading and Risk Management practice leads the development of innovative strategies to improve business performance. This individual will work on a broad range of projects to develop business, operating, and IT strategies. The focus of their work includes three key areas:

Business Problem Solving – Take ambiguous and complex business problems and using research and business assessment capabilities, define the problem, drive innovative ideas, define the opportunity set, and recommend actionable next steps.
Informed Business Decision Making - Bring rigor a client’s decision making process by performing detailed cost/benefit analysis, presenting and evaluating solution options, and driving consensus among key stakeholders. In some instances, we help our clients develop new decision frameworks and governance processes that continue to deliver value far beyond a particular engagement.
Solution Planning - Define, scope and plan new solutions for clients. This includes determining how to measure business results, modeling current/future business processes, gathering business requirements and identifying the organizational changes required to successfully realize the benefits of the solution.

With a unique skills set and experience, the Manager, Business Consulting will also be expected to help drive both sales pursuits and strategies, and to support structuring of complex, long-term contracts with clients and partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Day-to-day management and execution of key workstreams or engagements in accordance with established budget, workplans and quality standards. This may include:
Financial analysis and business case development
Primary and secondary research and analysis
Customer, vendor, market analyst and client interviews
Solution scoping and definition
Monthly data collection, analysis and reporting to track the industry’s progress with respect to commitments made by major market participants to improve OTC derivative processing
Develop strategic business & functional requirements that identify client business / technical needs; fully showcasing data, content and processes
Keen understanding and delivery of Project Life Cycle (PLC) and required documentation needed to drive project progress and success.
Responsible for all interaction throughout the PLC and SDLC phases of a project; working with relevant stakeholders as necessary
Develop new conceptual frameworks and analytical approaches
Perform ad-hoc research and analysis on OTC derivatives operational infrastructure;
Analyze current industry practices and conditions and identify emerging risks as OTC derivatives markets evolve
Provide insight and understanding from an industry perspective from front, middle and back office processes
Participate in on-site examinations of banking organizations to identify and evaluate key issues in OTC derivatives
Communicate review findings to management and clients; Own and grow senior client executives
Guide, mentor and grow other Sapient business consultants
Cultivate knowledge about cutting edge issues and practices within the industry, and with other regulators
Maintain an ongoing awareness of key risk issues and developments of new products and services
Actively participate in new business development activities
Practice development, including recruiting, training, thought leadership and community building

EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
5-8 years experience with considerable industry experience in OTC derivatives operations support; consulting experience is highly desired.
Candidates should have experience in a back or middle office, specifically trade or post-trade support for OTC credit and/or equity derivatives; front office experiences a plus.
Knowledge of other OTC derivative asset classes, including interest rates, foreign exchange and commodities are also welcome.
OTC derivatives operations background should include a firm understanding of credit and/or equity products, trade processing from front to back office including clearing and settlement, documentation, including ISDA Master Agreements and Confirmations , close-out processes in the event of bankruptcy, Cash Settlement Protocol, Industry-wide electronic platforms and vendor systems (DTCC, Markit etc.).
Ability to help structure and plan large projects/programs around trade life-cycle, PLC, SDLC and/or with any system integration or automation efforts
Ability to work with trading, sales, control, operations, and IT teams to develop business requirements / functional specifications, and follow through on design and implementation of solutions.
Strong problem identification and analytical skills; exceptional critical thinking skills, including the ability to assimilate new information, and manage multiple tasks
Experience as a team player with the ability to build collaborative and complex client relationships
Creativity with an eye to developing new and innovative solutions
Established track record of effectively leading teams and motivating others to take action; Track record of managing and growing people
Financial analysis and business case development capabilities
Proven ability to identify and cultivate new business opportunities
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability effectively communicate and interact with senior clients
Ability to manage projects to revenue and margin targets
Expert in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and MS Visio
Significant travel may be required as much of the work is done at the client site.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree with experience in the OTC derivatives industry; Master’s degree a plus.
