We have an immediate need for a Material Planner
JOB DESCRIPTION
Master Scheduler is functionally responsible for the planning of components and finished goods, as well as, capacity management, in support of the plants production requirements.
- Manages the Master Schedule (MS) at plant level and ensure that plant objectives are met
- Ensure that the MS meets the customers deliveries regarding their orders
- Ensure that logistics planning processes support customer
- Ensure prevention of premium outbound freight
- Assure the feasibility of plant MS regarding actual internal and external capacity
- Ensure the plant industrial objectives by optimizing resources and inventory levels
- Control processes regulating inventory availability
- - Regular performance reporting
- Maintain data in the ERP system data reflecting changes in manufacturing order parameters, inventory parameters, and future schedule of assigned product lines
- Formulate and administer inventory control guidelines for stocking levels, safety stock and receipt of materials in support of manufacturing.
- Develops personal objectives and assists the Supply Chain Manager in the development and implementation of department objectives.
- Improve systems tools (Fourth-Shift) to forecast and plan materials.
- Monitor all inventory transactions.
- Implementation and improvement on materials programs.
- Maintain inventory levels & dollars within established objectives
- Obtain information from Customer Service and Mfg. Operations for material planning and forecasting purposes.
- Evaluate effectiveness of existing procedures and/or activities performed within the Materials and Mfg. functions to recommend areas of improvement.
- Keep up to date for changes in demand in order to create on time material requirements
- Attend daily production meetings with production and Material planning personnel in order to assure the proper material availability to support manufacturing needs.
- Analyze MRP reports for execution and recommend actions.
- Maintain planning parameters updated in Fourth Shift systems.
- Coordination and implementation of New Product Introduction.
- Comply with Quality Policy
- Comply with Health, Safety & Environmental Policies and utilize the personal protective equipment required in the work areas at all times.
- Notify any accident or safety incident to Supervisor, EHS Officer or HR Department immediately.
- Maintain work area clean and organized
Position requires strong analytical, and interpersonal skills. The Master Scheduler leads the finished goods and materials planning/scheduling function. Determines and schedules the material flow process: MRP, KanBan/Pull-Flow processes as well as sizing, and supervises the related function of cycle counting, other material service functions. Primary interface between customer and production and manages inbound and outbound product planning. Ensures delivery schedule achievement.
Minimum education and experience requirements are a bachelors degree in Business Admin, Materials Planning, or related, plus five years experience or a Masters degree plus three years experience. Experience should be in a manufacturing environment involving some materials management, as well as planning and scheduling, or the supervision of those functions. Preference will be given to CSCP and or CPIM certification.
- Bachelors degree required with a Masters viewed as a plus (Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field)
- Two years experience with implementation knowledge of JIT/VMI procurement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- 5 to 8 years planning experience; automotive background preferred
- Strong manufacturing systems experience: Kanban/Pull, MRPII, EDI, Excel
- Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts
- Professional APICS Certification preferred
- Knowledge of Fourth Shift ERP system. Planning/scheduling configurations
- Ability to drive teamwork between groups and cross-functional teams
- Successful track record of reducing inventory
- A solid understanding of the financial aspects of inventory management
- Knowledge of inventory control theory and familiarity with the theory for order point/order quantity calculation
- Excellent communication and written skills with an ability to effectively interact at all levels.
