Technical Writer/Helpdesk Support in Long Island City, NY

NO 3RD PARTIES, PLEASE Type: Contract Location: Long Island City, NY Duration: 18 months Start Date: Approx March 15, 2010 Provide help desk support. Take calls and answer functionality questions. Write, edit or revise a variety of technical and user documentation such as, reports, specifications, technical diagrams, brochures, help files, and/or manuals for a wide range of uses. Collaborate with programmers, and/or product management during design phase to gain an understanding of the product. Ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills and an understanding of programming concepts, operating systems and/or networking. May provide guidance to other Technical Writers. Conduct application training sessions for groups of users. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe RoboHelp is essential, while Technical Writing experience is required. Experience with Imaging Software (Snagit, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro) for screen capturing is essential. A Bachelor's Degree and at least 4 years of related work experience, is required. Sample work will be requested at interview. Samples of prior work should be presented at interview.
