The Business Intelligence Architect provides a key role in meeting user expectation of the data warehouse.
*Determines the most appropriate mechanism for standardized reporting, ad hoc reporting, DSS, OLAP, executive information systems, etc. in an attempt to limit duplication of effort.
*Ensures that business rules are applied consistently across the different user interfaces to limit the possibility of inconsistent results.
Roles and responsibilities of the Business Intelligence Architect are:
Align Business Intelligence architecture with enterprise architecture.
Ensure that the data warehouse architecture and Business Intelligence tool architecture are compatible.
Set or enforce Business Intelligence standards and architecture.
Select appropriate Business Intelligence tools and techniques.
Design the Business Intelligence application architectures based on the requirements. Determine the most appropriate tool for each requirement and ensure consistent application of business rules.
Assist in the development of the Business Intelligence application and lead the Business Intelligence development team.
Experience: Requirements include the following skills:
General knowledge and understanding of all components of the data warehouse architecture, especially the Business Intelligence model and the related meta data. In depth knowledge and experience using Business Intelligence tools and applying sound user interface design techniques. An understanding of the business functions and subject areas supported by the warehouse. A strong understanding of the data in the warehouse and the business rules that must be applied to make the data meaningful to the business community. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Ability to work well with others within all organizational hierarchies.
