Desk Top Support Specialist in Tarrytown, NY

Under the supervision of the Director of Network Infrastructure Network Manager provides primary support to end users regarding PC hardware and software inventories. Works with Systems Analyst and Trainer to train staff on use of computer and network resources.

Responsibilities:


1. Answers questions regarding use of PC hardware and phone systems.

2. According to prescribed standards monitors technical instruments and maintains physical security and proper operating environment of the computer room(s) and equipment.

3. Monitors daily backups of computer systems. Maintains backup logs and appropriately labels and stores tapes. Maintains tape libraries and associated documentation according to established procedures. Based upon departmental tape storage procedures, audits tape library and coordinates onsite and offsite tape rotation.

4. Assists Sr. Systems Analyst, in the evaluation and recommendation of PC application software and hardware. Installs new software and upgrades to application software and operating systems. Installs and configures new an existing workstations and peripherals.

5. Under the supervision of the Sr. Systems Analyst, maintains inventories and documentation of all computer hardware and software. Reports all non-compliant software licensing issues to DTSS.

6. Assists SR. Systems Analyst and/or Telecommunications Technician in the analysis of hardware, communication and/or operational issues.

7. Performs general, preventative and routine maintenance on printers and PCs.

8. Assists Software Trainer with initial and follow up training on use of PCs and phone systems.

9. Under the supervision of the Telecommunications Technician, assists in designing, implementation and installing network cabling for voice/data systems.

10. Maintains and set ups computer labs and training facilities at the organizations and CHCs.

11. Provide backup Help Desk coverage.
Experience: Associate degree, related area or equivalent. One year experience in supporting PCs, printers, and phone systems. PC/Novell hardware/software and phone experience highly desirable. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to adapt to changing environments by using problem solving, analytical and team building skills.
