- Managing assigned projects through all phases of the project management lifecycle.
- Creating Initial Planning documents with completeness and accuracy.
- Developing Project Scope Statements and secures project sponsor signoff.
- Coordinating and facilitating meetings with relevant representatives and all project stakeholders to review project proposal, goals, and intended deliverables such as the product and/or service as developed and documented in the business case.
- Developing project schedules, identifying milestones, dependencies, and critical path.

Experience: To be considered for the position candidates must possess the following skills and experience:
- Holds a Current PMP Certification for at least one year
- At least four years experience managing at least three projects consisting of the following project types of either:
o Software development
o Process re-engineering
o Application implementation
o Technical architecture implementations - Managed project teams of five or more team members
- Managed projects using a standard Project Management Methodology
- At least two years experience establishing a PMO
- At least two years experience with NYS PM Methodology
- Has at least two years Experience mentoring/training team lead and/or junior project managers including:
o Developing PM skills and abilities
o Developing PM confidence
o An understanding of the PMI "Project Management Body of Knowledge".
Candidates with the following desirable skills and experience will be considered first:
- Minimally one year of experience establishing Portfolio Management and/or Governance Processes for a PMO
- Three years of direct experience with designing, developing, and implementing an organization wide Project Management Office.
- Four years experience Mentoring PM's with formal Project Management mentoring program and/or four years experience training PM's.
- Two years conducting Formal Project Close-outs and or establishing a Formal Closeout process for a PMO
- Four years experience managing projects utilizing the NYS Project Management Methodology.
- PMP certification for at least three years
- Experience with the HP/Mercury PPM tool suite version 6.0 or better (includes training, use of, and/or implementation of the tool)
- Experience with MS Project 2000
- Experience with ITIL implementations
- Experience in communicating with Sr. level management
