Job Details:
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Reviews and analyzes requirements, design, and technical specifications documents by conducting formal requirements walkthroughs/inspections
. Develops test strategy and approach
. Develops test plans, cases, and scripts
. Develops and maintains test data and/or test harnesses
. Manages and creates test data library
. Works with the development team to understand the source-to-destination data mapping, as well as the data transformation process, between multiple systems
. Performs and manages integration testing by executing test plans and cases
. May plan, design, and execute functional GUI-based tests on an as-needed basis
. Facilitates meetings with system development staff throughout the test effort
JOB SKILLS:
. Expert in database querying tools such as TOAD or SQL Query Analyzer
. Expert in writing SQL queries, including complex joins
. Expert in analyzing database schemas, and ability to create or locate master data within Oracle
. Extremely knowledgeable with data warehousing concepts, including star schemas, fact tables, and dimensional modeling
. Ability to navigate and understand Cognos BI configuration a plus
. Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices
. Strong knowledge of requirements analyzing process
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
. Excellent interpersonal skills
. Extremely entrepreneurial and ability to work independently
. Ability to work under tight deadlines
. Ability to think of alternative solutions in order to complete test efforts under changing conditions
. Must possess strong analytical and diagnostic skills, and be detailed oriented
Experience: EXPERIENCE:
. Minimum of five (5) years of being a Software QA/Test Professional, having formal testing experience with client/server, Windows-based relational database software required.
. Minimum of five (5) years experience in business intelligence, reporting, querying, and analysis (Cognos experience preferred).
. Minimum of two (2) years of experience with minimum of two (2) of the following required:
o Testing data integrity across multiple systems in an integrated environment
o Creating test harnesses to simulate data from third-party systems
o Creating test scripts using Mercury Suite of tools (Quality Center, Test Director, QTP, WR, LoadRunner)
o Involvement in a least two (2) Business Intelligence installations or large enhancement full life cycle projects
. Expert in back-end test designing required (i.e. database and third-party system interfaces without a GUI)
. Experience with formal testing best practices and test design techniques; familiar with the software testing lexicon
. Experience with both manual and automated test designing required
. Experience working in an environment using basic SDLC Methodology required
. Experience with Mercury products preferred
EDUCATION:
. Bachelors Degree in computer science or related field
. Formal software testing training ideal
