VP Architecture and Governance in NEW YORK, NY

The Manager of Architecture and Governance will be a direct report to the SVP of Application & Architecture and will be responsible for the creation, governance, and implementation of the future state application architecture vision, as well as the design, implementation and maintenance of enterprise components that will be utilized by the various line of business development teams.

The individual will work in close partnership with the other development managers across Investments, TA, Distribution, FundAccounting, and Corporate Services to ensure the creation of executable technology roadmaps, at both local and enterprise levels, which clearly map to business goals and objectives.

The individual will put governance structures in place that provide a structured framework, with minimal bureaucracy, for technology decisions.

The individual will be a member of the Technology Senior Leadership and will be expected to contribute broadly to the team’s success.

1. Set a strategic technology direction for the organization that will enable the development groups to deliver superior levels of service while controlling costs.

2. Establish partnerships with the other technology managers to optimize the firm’s technical capabilities and ensure that all applications and systems are technically sound. Ensure that all systems have the security, robustness and scalability necessary to enable and accelerate the continued growth of the business.

3. Staff Management and Leadership - set goals and objectives for the direct reports. Evaluate the skill sets and productivity of the current staff, set goals and establish career paths, motivate, and coach. Create a positive work environment, living the values of the firm and ensuring that the Technology organization is an employer of choice internally and externally.

5. Cost Control – focus on resource allocation and budgetary control to proactively optimize costs. Have the ability to innovate and drive external best practices into the firm as well as partner with third parties where appropriate.

Experience: 1. Background and Technical Experience - experience DELIVERING architecture solutions within a near real time, high volume environment such as the financial services Mutual fund industry.

2. Technical Experience - experience leading a technology group with responsibility for enterprise architecture, as well as expert knowledge of architecture principles, standards, technical trends, and industry best practices; experience with designing and building message based and SOA architectures; legacy system integration; structured development lifecycles; understanding of XML, WebServices, JMS or equivalent, J2EE, .Net, SQL, Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, COBOL, Java, PowerBuilder; knowledge of Open source Java Frameworks is a plus.

3. IT Strategic Planning &#150; experience in helping define and execute Technology strategies with the goal of providing direction on the appropriate use of Information Technology to enable and accelerate their long and short term business goals.

4. Service Delivery &#150; ability to continuously improve the quality of service being delivered, while at the same time controlling the cost of service. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects on time and on budget. Has the ability to assess the merits of Build vs. Buy for technology solutions.

5. Business Focus&#150; possess the ability to relate well to the businesses, gain their confidence and support. Demonstrate the ability to understand the business drivers and to propose solutions that support the changing needs of the businesses.

6. Organizational Skills &#150; develop channels for information to flow through the organization allowing everyone to be kept aware of the status of projects and solutions. Demonstrate success prioritizing and delivering multiple projects on time and on budget. Possess the ability to put in place escalation processes and know how to effectively deal with response times.

7. Leadership and Motivational Skills &#150; possess a willingness to empower as well as to inspire commitment and a positive attitude in your team. Proactively work with key personnel to ensure that technology solutions continuously meet the evolving needs of the business. Ability to manage a staff in multiple locations as well as possess the ability to identify, attract, and retain the talent needed to successfully address challenges.

8. Communication and Influencing Skills &#150; ability to communicate with and to build working relationships across the businesses. Demonstrated success in influencing key decision makers and business partners to gain their support and build consensus for the Web Based IT strategy and initiatives. Possess excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

9. P & L Responsibility &#150; experience with managing budgets and resources in a world-class organization.

11. Ability to Present a Business Case &#150; ability to prepare and present a business case that takes financial and business metrics into account to enable senior management to make effective decisions in support of their new initiatives or strategic vision.

13. Education &#150; Undergraduate degree required. Advanced degree would be a plus.

14. Travel &#150; Travel between Denver location and NY will be required.
