Our client, a dynamic global media firm, seeks a Chief Enterprise Architect whose game changing leadership and technical capabilities will drive the client's evolving technology strategy. Key initiatives include implementing the infrastructure and technology necessary to support customer-centric strategies, assessing new technology and using it to refine the enterprise architecture and developing and implementing recommendations that optimize technology delivery for a diverse portfolio of business offerings and operational challenges. The Chief Enterprise Architect will manage a team that includes data, application, security and business intelligence architects facilitate the creation, maintenance and governance of the enterprise architecture and coding/design standards. The role requires significant interaction, coordination and collaboration with Local, Regional and Global Application Development and Infrastructure teams as well as key business/domain sponsors and stakeholders.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
. Management and governance of architecture standards, blueprints and strategy, with a specific focus on software reuse and infrastructure simplification
. Advises, reviews and signs-off on specific application, data and infrastructure architectures for new projects where it impacts the overall enterprise architecture
. Work closely with application and product development teams to ensure alignment of business and technology strategies
. Ensure the most appropriate technology is used to maximize investment and leverage of functionality across the different systems while meeting business needs
. Working together with acquired technology groups to leverage technology investments and standardize systems, driving cost efficiencies
. Play a lead role in build vs. buy activities, always looking to leverage existing functionality and investment
. Help plan, design and execute deployment strategies to ensure fail over capabilities and scalability
. Provide input on system development life cycle process, methods and tools
. Provide recommendations on architectural changes and design enhancements to the infrastructure to improve reliably and performance, reduce cost, and anticipate Company growth and acquisitions
. Partner with cross functional teams to provide input and technology direction.
. Create staffing plan and budget to match expected workplan
. Develop and manage schedule and resources for the group
. Conducting regular team evaluations and mentoring subordinates
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The position will require the candidate to respond to critical situations after normal business hours or during weekends (Saturday or Sunday). A mobile phone and Blackberry will be provided for this purpose.
Key Requirements:
. Experience as a Chief Architect on inception-to-delivery of an enterprise architecture
. Deep technical knowledge of current technologies such as .NET, J2EE, Open Source, Messaging infrastructures, Databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle), Business Intelligence/Datawarehousing and OOAD/OOP/UML.
. Proven leadership skills including: people growth, mentoring, team building, collaboration and conflict resolution; must be able to inspire and mentor developers at varying levels using excellent written/verbal communication.
. Strong business knowledge to grasp the needs of the business in the short-, medium- and long-term and is able to define an architectural roadmap for development.
. Strong communication between technical and business teams.
. Ability to serve as evangelist of architectural vision, strategy, and principles creating enterprise frameworks that allow other architects, developers and IT professionals to work in sync.
. Experience with interaction of legacy systems and phased application integration.
. Data entity definition, data modeling and database design and lifecycle management knowledge
. Must be experienced with product/project life-cycle methodologies (Waterfall, RUP, Agile, etc.) and have extensive knowledge of Internet web development in Microsoft and/or Sun Java environments
. Exemplary general IT knowledge (applications development, testing, deployment, operations, documentation, standards, best practices, security, hardware, networking, OS, DBMS, middleware, etc.)
. Knowledge of IT governance and operations.
. Excellent project planning skills, including scope definition, time estimation, and risk and issue management
Experience: JOB / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A candidate must possess the following:
. 10-15 years of development experience. Must have 5-10 years of architecture experience, with 3-5 years at the enterprise level.
. Extensive experience with complex technical development and integration in large organizations with significant reliability, performance and security requirements.
. Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
. Excellent interview and communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to both business and technical resources
. Exceptional problem resolution skills.
. Direct experience with software development.
. Experience preparing architecture related documentation.
. Ability to perform effectively under stressful conditions such as directional changes, tight deadlines and limited resources.
. Flexible schedule to accommodate travel to other locations for meetings with Business and Project Teams
ELIGIBILITY / EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Required:
. BS and/or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering (PhD a plus)
. Be able to travel internationally (20-40%) and hold a valid passport
. Be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
. Have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
