Sirius currently has an opportunity on our Open Systems Technical Services team for an IT Solutions Architect who has proven skills in delivering IBM System p (pSeries), AIX, HACMP, and IBM Storage solutions. This customer-facing role will involve both services delivery and pre-sales for infrastructure projects, and this position could be based out of any major metro area in the NorthEast US. This role requires up to 75% travel, and will generally involve working from home when not at customer sites. This position will involve pre-sales and architecting solutions that include hardware, software, and professional services. This position will also involve providing billable services to our customers in a number of areas, including. but not limited to: IT assessments, hardware/software installations, implementation of specialized software (ie., HACMP and Tivoli Storage Manager), system integrations/transitions, troubleshooting customer environments, and reviewing/recommending systems designs and implementations.



Incumbents in this position will be tasked with technical leadership responsibilities as part of a Solution Services Program. The Solution Architect must have a reliable and proven skill set, and be able to move flexibly between different project roles including solution architecture, analysis, and design. The Solution Architect will not typically participate in activities such as programming, testing, and documentation, except when such activities occur as part of strategic development efforts (such as establishing a framework or other utility of importance to the Program).



The Solution Architect is expected to handle engagements requiring knowledge of multiple application server environments, to assist in the architectural design of client applications, and to provide technical sales support as needed. The Solution Architect will mentor Lead Solutions Specialists, Senior Solutions Specialists, and Solutions Specialists, and will act as a technical resource to the immediate Program Manager, particularly in the creation of SOWs and estimates. The Solution Architect may travel regularly to client locations, and may perform both on-site and off-site work. This customer-facing, services delivery role requires frequent travel (up to 75%).

Experience: Knowledge & Implementation Skills Required:

Strong knowledge of AIX operating systems

Strong knowledge of the IBM System p (pSeries) platform, LPAR skills

Strong knowledge of IBM Storage Subsystems (ESS, DS4000 series, FAStT)

Strong knowledge of SAN switches and directors (Cisco, McData, Brocade)

Strong knowledge of HACMP

TSM experience preferred, but not required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to speak with enthusiasm and confidence in order to retain customers and garner respect of staff

Excellent interpersonal skills



Knowledge & Implementation Skills a plus:

Intel knowledge

Symantec NetBackup experience a strong plus

NetApp storage experience a strong plus

Education/Experience:

Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

Minimum five years technical work experience preferably in a consulting environment



Travel:

Travel to various client locations required - approximately 75%

Current driver s license required

Air travel capability required
