We have a career opportunity for a Technical Writer, on our Facilities Product team.
This team:
Creates technology solutions used by other applications as common code.
Creates, implements and monitors standards re: technology implementations for eBusiness, for example, how we handle the electronic transmission of Radio orders among ad agency media buyers, sales reps and radio stations.
The writer on this team would publish for an internal and external technical audience (ie, including industry tech experts). Hence, we need someone who has written to a highly technical audience, ie, programmers, and who has documented the 'guts' of a software product, from scratch. We would expect this candidate to manage/reconcile differences of opinion about the focus, content and format of the documentation, from various stakeholders. We would like someone who has created technical design documents.
The successful candidate is an integral team member, actively involved in product and technical design and development, with primary responsibility for all product and technical related documentation.
Active role in all stages of the development life-cycle (including design, development, testing, documentation and roll out), in which the candidate will:
Participate in design meetings and document the proceedings
Capture and organize business requirements and design specifications which drive the development process
Develop and deliver technical documentation that can be used as a road map by other technical teams to utilize and implement the technology
Develop, deliver and maintain documentation for online delivery. Documentation ranges from management overviews to detailed procedures, reference information and online help for hands-on users
Manage product pages on our Web site plus other product development tasks. Manage documentation process for the team, including all project documents, for concurrent projects .
Experience: Proven ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize
Strong technical writing and editing skills, with demonstrated ability to absorb business and highly technical information quickly from a variety of sources and write clearly for a specialized audience
Motivation and ability to master end-user industry concepts, business practices technologies and work flows to which the product relates.
Minimum 3-5 years experience in technical communication/information design. Knowledge of technical writing principles, practices and tools
Has produced documentation in Framemaker; knowledge of Visio or Enterprise Architect a plus
Hands-on computer skills, with ability to research system functions and confirm operation through hands-on exploration of a system
Understanding of software development concepts, architecture and applications
Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment
Must be a quick-learner, self-starter, and a team player
