- Managing projects through all phases of the project management lifecycle, applying the NYS project management methodology.
- Create Initial Planning documents with completeness and accuracy.
- Develop Project Scope Statements and secures project sponsor signoff.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with relevant representatives and all project stakeholders to review project proposal, goals, and intended deliverables such as the product and/or service as developed and documented in the business case.
- Develop project schedules, identifying milestones, dependencies, and critical path. Identify alternatives for accommodating resource conflicts and/or compressing schedule, if required and any risks associated with those alternatives.
- Provide Coaching or Mentoring to inexperienced PM's with management of less complex projects

Experience:
To be considered for the positions candidates must possess the following mandatory skills and experiences:
- Holds a Current PMP Certification for at least one year
- At least 4 years experience managing at least three projects consisting of the following project types of either software development, process re-engineering, application implementation, or technical architecture implementations
- Managed project teams of ten or more team members
- Managed these projects using a standard Project Management Methodology
- Has experience managing projects utilizing the NYS PM Methodology
- Has at least 2 years Experience mentoring/training team lead and/or junior project managers. Which includes developing PM skills and abilities, developing PM confidence, and providing an understanding of the PMI "Project Management Body of Knowledge".
Candidates with the following desirable skills and experience will be considered first:
- At least 2 years experience managing projects utilizing the NYS Project Management Methodology
- Experience in communicating w/ Sr. level management
- At least 4 years experience Mentoring PM's with formal Project Management mentoring program and/or 4 years experience training PM's.
- At least 2 years Experience Conducting Formal Project Close-outs and or establishing a Formal Closeout process for a PMO including Lessons Learned and Best Practice application.
- PMP certification for at least 2 years
- Experience with the HP/Mercury PPM tool suite version 6.0 or better(includes training, use of, and/or implementation of the tool)
- Minimum 1 year Managed Business Process Redesign/Business Process Improvement or Change Management projects
- Minimum 1 year Experience managing a Information Security related projects
- Minimum 1 year Experience with Application Development projects including standard System Development Lifecycle implementations
- Experience with ITIL implementations
- Minimum 1 year Experience with Technical Architecture projects such as Information Security, Business Continuity, & ITIL implementations.
- At least 2 years Experience with the Project Origination and Initiation phases of the PM lifecycle.
