Overview
Seeking an organized and self-motivated individual to help support our IS Department.
Candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deployment of applications using PeopleTools, Visual Basic, SQL Server, and SQL.
Responsibilities
A programmer/analyst will develop, maintain, enhance, and integrate software. The following responsibilities will be covered:
· Learn the core business and applications.
· Learn software project life cycle - gathering user requirements, business analysis, writing specifications, estimating time, coding, writing test plans, testing and application release.
· Analyze user requirements, develop technical specifications, database design, and functional prototypes
· Develop and maintain software using application tools
· Develop logical and physical database design working with DBA
· Perform quality assurance testing.
· Deploy application software.
· Trouble shoot problems with applications and create system documentation.
· Provide supervisor with accurate and timely project status reports
· Consult with functional leaders and the users of the applications to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements. Manage end users expectations.
· Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
· Write and maintain technical & functional specifications.
· Analyze and estimate feasibility, costs, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.
· Develop and maintain plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs.
· Research and evaluate, and recommend software and hardware to assist in programming or to use as program platforms.
· Design and code screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.
· Work with DBA to design the database, monitor end user usage of the system, and resolve performance issues.
· Develop and maintain applications using Visual Basic, SQLServer, People Tools, Transact-SQL, Active Server Pages, People Code, Crystal Reports, etc.
· Compile programs into executables and correct errors detected in compile process.
Qualifications
· College degree/Technical certificate - Computer Science, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering
· Minimum of 1 year of programming using VB, People Tools, ASP and Crystal Reports experience and a strong understanding of programming concepts, database design, and SQL
· Strong problem solver
· Team player
· Strong communication skills
Interview
First interview:
Will need to be prepared to talk through and defend experience from the resume.
Meaning, if something is on the resume, the candidate should be prepared to discuss it and make the interviewer believe that they really know the item listed as experience. (the resume needs to really reflect skills)
