UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer to join our Albany, NY team. The successful candidate should have minimally two years of experience with the production of user manuals and training materials, designing training curriculum, and training end-users. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Produce user manuals and training materials, design training curriculum, and train the trainers for our Eligible List Management System (ELMS). The Eligible List Management Systems is a mission critical application written in visual basic.
  • Develop and manage a process for system documentation
  • Compile, edit and coordinate efforts by system staff to maintain cohesive and uniform documentation
  • Design templates to uniformly and completely capture information about the system
  • Coordinate, edit and write all or portions of the User Manual(s)
  • Coordinate the printing and distribution of the User Manual(s)
  • Develop and maintain a Change Control Process for documentation
  • Analyze training needs and develop a training strategy
  • Develop and manage training curriculum and courses
  • Develop training scenarios and course materials

Experience:

To be considered for this position candidates must possess the following skills and experiences:

  • A minimum of two years experience documenting computer applications with well-developed technical skills in writing, proofreading and editing, and training.
  • Must work well with others in a team setting and have the ability to quickly learn the basics of the environment.
  • Must be able to effectively transfer knowledge to staff with accuracy and provide well documented processes.
  • Must be able to translate functional process steps into well-written user documentation.
