I. Position Summary:
Perform complex database administration assignments essential to the production and development of Database Management Systems (DBMS) applications.
II. Essential Functions:
? Designs, models, develops, deploys and manages databases on servers and standalone desktops
? Conducts performance monitoring/measurement, systems stress testing and quality control benchmarks
? Conducts assignments which are in direct support of software development and maintenance teams, including database analysis, security support, design, software use, performance monitoring and tuning, and general technical expertise
? Reviews and ensures integrity via standardized support tools
? Ensures assignments are performed in accordance with database administration guidelines, standards and procedures for applications development, implementation, testing and migration
? Responds to complex systems problems reported by customers
? Evaluates and recommends software, guidelines, procedures and development of project plans
? Provides DBMS expertise to other groups as requested
? Works with Manager, Database Storage to assess new database technologies and vendors
? Prepares studies and analyzes existing systems through all software phases, including requirements, design, development, unit and system testing, and deployment
III. Minimum Qualifications:
? High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma required
? Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred
? Two (2) to four (4) years experience in database management and operation
? Three (3) plus years of experience working with Microsoft SQL server 7.0 and 2000
? Experience in designing, defining and implementing system requirements for complex customer systems
? Regular attendance and punctuality
? Organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion
? Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
? Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
? Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
? When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

? Knowledge of database management systems and storage technologies, vendors, policies and procedures
? Knowledge of backup and recovery techniques
? Knowledge of database design techniques
? Knowledge of data storage techniques

? Knowledge of technology fundamentals and concepts (Microsoft technologies preferred)
? Knowledge of JetBlue's business units and how their needs drive IT work
