General Purpose:
Designs, implements and supports the server environments for all network projects. Works alone or manages a project team to develop detailed specifications and designs for our network. Works closely with the Chief Technical Officer and Network Engineers to maintain the integrity of the network, to troubleshoot and problem solve.
Responsibilities:
Provides project management services for the Network project team.
Manages Network Support Engineers, mentors, assigns tasks, delegates responsibilities, follows up on status, progress, and completion of projects.
Designs, manages, maintains, and documents the server configurations
Writes and reviews technical specifications as required; meets the objectives of functional specifications, for both client and internal projects
Assists sales with the technical side of project planning and design in pre/sales network design/engineering
Assists in setup and maintenance of UNIX systems, thin client applications, network monitoring systems, and network diagnostic tools.
Provides second level customer support.
Resolves performance, security and reliability issues with production systems.
Management of day to day backup systems
Creates lab test environments for security patch testing and production patch rollout
Undertakes special projects as necessary.
Requirements:
- Over 5 years experience in an ISP or Web environment.
- Experience with hardware configuration, software installation and configuration, system operation and system diagnosis and recovery.
- Experience with TCP/IP network administration
- Working knowledge of database administration.
- Working knowledge of remote management consoles.
- Working knowledge of web application platforms: Cold Fusion, ASP, etc.
- Working knowledge of large ISP E-Mail, DNS configuration issues.
- Working knowledge of Mac and UNIX operating systems.
