I. Position Summary:
Maintains and supports a recoverable Information Technology (IT) environment for JetBlue Airways. Works closely with the Project Leads and Applications Crewmembers to define all backup and recovery requirements. The Engineer is responsible for day-to-day systems and information backups, tape rotation, archiving and recovery.
II. Essential Functions:
Backup and Recovery Engineer ? Specific Functions
? Provides day-to-day support for systems and information backup and recovery services
? Manages disaster recovery processes of all systems and information
? Deploys and integrates JetBlue backup and recovery software and trains IT personnel on administrative best practices
? Creates backup and recovery solutions and documentation
? Designs, implements and maintains an alert system for failed backups; develops tools or scripts
? Provides advanced technical support and knowledge transfer to existing IT Crewmembers as required
? Collaborates with the Storage Engineers and maintains storage allocation and maintenance policies pertaining to backup and recovery of information
? Produces written assessments and recommendations to fine-tune the storage of archived information
Backup and Recovery Engineer ? Core Functions
? Helps organize the JetBlue Backup and Recovery program
? Assists in the assessment of critical and non-critical systems and information
? Provides backup services for critical systems and information
? Participates in the development of highly complex, enterprise systems architectures and designs to maintain the availability and reliability of critical and non-critical systems and information
? Establishes and maintains a high level of morale and clear focus in an environment of aggressive growth and change
? Contributes to the ongoing evolution of storage management best practices
III. Minimum Qualifications:
? Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or documented experience or equivalent formal technical education
? Minimum three (3) years of experience in backup and recovery or storage solutions
? Minimum one (1) year experience with Active Directory and Exchange
? Regular attendance and punctuality

? Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
? Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
? Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
? When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
IV. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Backup and Recovery Engineer ? Specific Competencies
? Strong analytical skills
? Strong understanding of systems and information backup and recovery planning concepts
? Proficient understanding of storage technologies (SAN, EMC, etc.)
? Working knowledge of Database backup and recovery techniques
? Experience with developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans
? Expertise in one or more enterprise backup and recovery solutions
? In-depth knowledge of network, volume manager, DNS, TCP/IP and support of complex systems including clusters
Backup and Recovery Engineer ? Core Competencies
? Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Project, Excel, Word and Visio
? Working knowledge of Network Backup products for Large Enterprise
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers (Suite)
? Working knowledge of Volume Manager and Cluster Server for Windows
? Disaster Recovery Planning, DRI Certification preferred but not required
? Windows Systems Administration preferred but not required
? Systems administration for both servers and storage preferred but not required
? Microsoft Exchange Server Education preferred but not required
? Working knowledge on Active Directory preferred but not required
? Able to work in a highly dynamic project team environment
