Pierce Technology Corporation is an established professional services company with a focus on providing information technology services to Fortune 500 companies in the NY/NJ/PA area, on both a consulting and permanent basis.Pierce has an immediate opening with a large corporation in New York City.Responsibilities:Provide technical guidance to more junior members of the UNIX support group.Design and build infrastructure for scalability and redundancy.Write documentation as needed such as problem reports, procedures, policies, etc.Review, upgrade and recommend UNIX infrastructure design, capacity and operations.Troubleshooting, problem management and adherence to project scope and timelines. Participate in system administration for AIX 5.x, Redhat Linux 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0 and Solaris 8, 9 and 10.Qualifications:Minimum of 5 - 7 years current experience in AIX 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 systems administration and SAN management required.Strong analytical skills in resolving OS related issues and the ability to interact with development and business groups.Familiarity with SAN, IBM DS4000/8000 disk storage, McData switches and related hardware is a plus.Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell and/or Perl required.Ability to diagnose and resolve complex system/application errors and work with network and application support teams required.Expert knowledge of various enterprise systems and environments.An understanding of storage and change management tools and concepts requiredSound knowledge of NIM and LVM preferred.Exposure to ORACLE RAC support, TIM and LDAP is a plus.Proficiency in server performance monitoring and tuning and workload balancing and system design/requirements desired.
