A large financial institution located in lower Manhattan seeks a candidate to work a as Business Analyst/Data Analyst for a 1 year plus contract.

This technical Business Analyst position is forthe Global Strategic Trading team of PB Technology located in New York City. This is part of a larger global team with team members in Geneva (Switzerland), Delaware and Columbus. The candidate will be required to work with the extended team and may be required to under-take some travel to some of these locations.

As a Business Analyst, you will serve as liaison between business partners and technology colleagues. Work with the business to analyze business requirements and review/produce functional specifications for any new/change to technology applications. Work with the development team to ensure that they understand the specifications. Work with training team to document system scenarios and identify roles impacted and help develop a change management/training plan. Conduct business process modeling and generate applicable scenarios for the technology functionality testing team. Coordinate UAT testing.

You will be responsible to identify, assess, and document business requirements, recommending business priorities, and advising business on options, risks, and costs. Conduct research to determine if solutions to business requirements currently exist within or outside the business unit, and if not, whether new solutions are feasible. Analyze impact of proposed solution across the business, develop use cases to explain/demonstrate business requirements/specifications to IT team, and contribute a business or process perspective during design reviews. Assist Quality Assurance team to ensure that requirements documentation can be easily translated into test plans, and ensure that the proper testing plans have been completed. Facilitate implementation of new functionality through training sessions, demos, and the development of appropriate documentation. Provide relevant test scenarios for the testing team. Work with test team to develop system integration test scripts and ensure the testing results correspond to the business expectations


Experience: . Prior experience working in a pressured (dynamic, fast-paced) environment
. Management and creation of project plans, issues lists, and test strategies
. Experience producing statements of work, business requirements documents & functional specifications
. Experience setting up test scenarios
. Experience/understanding of business process reengineering and business modeling concepts, business systems development and analysis
. Experience with Systems Development Life Cycle
. Strong analytical skills, leadership skills, writing skills, to include solid experience in writing functional and technical specifications
. Expert in gathering user requirements, defining technical solutions and creating technical documentation
. Experience with Visio and/or MS Powerpoint for data flow diagrams is necessary
. Examples of work: Business Requirements Documents, Functional Specifications Documents, data flow diagrams
. Development of business requirements and/or use case methodology
. Strong systems analysis skills (vs. pure business analysis)
. Understands the technical use case process perspective
. Able to analyze the need in order to understand the requirements and identify possible solutions
. Self-directed, self-motivated, independent worker
. Well balanced understanding of business relationships, business requirements, IT requirements, technical solutions, test strategy & approach plans and test plans

. Document business processes and communicate potential business and systems impacts based on analysis of the data
. Extensively write and update use cases and work flow diagrams for effective plans
. Write/create functional specifications documents with supporting use case diagrams and (preferably) traceability matrices
. Assist the technical team in understanding and developing the appropriate functionality
. Participate in design review to ensure the integration of all requirements
. Liaison between the Business and IT groups in performing tasks to interpret the business requirements and then link them to the application and ensuring the technical solutions satisfy the business requirements
. Involved in writing test scripts and analyzing test scripts/data to ensure functional requirements have been covered
. Create and update use cases, use case diagrams and work flows
. Control project scope, identify and resolve key issues and risks.
. Manage project timeline to ensure quality, on-time deliverables
