The Development Group of our client is seeking an Application Developer to help build and enhance the proprietary workflow components of their software suite. They are a fund administrator that develops technology and applications that are deployed to and used by hedge funds and investment firms. The workflow applications are written in Java and Adobe Flex. The Java layer communicates with other applications as well as a 3rd party application , SunGard*s Front Arena, as a source for trading and general ledger information.
Their solution also includes many 3rd-party applications and components that are incorporated into the development and design of application enhancements, including Hibernate and Spring. The role requires a person who can work alongside other development teams, infrastructure groups and user communities to deliver quality, timely enhancements to the application suite.
Responsibilities
* Work within agile development team to assist in design, development, and support of components of their enterprise application suite.
* Participate in rotating support schedule for daily production operations.
* Participate in daily standup meeting to share team goals and objectives for the day.
* Participate in test-first, pair programming development environment.
* Collaborate with QA Developers to build components for automated test infrastructure. Participate in evaluation of QA results with QA Developers and Business Owners.
* Enhance vendor trading system to add support for specific calculations, data entry, and custom workflows.
* Collaborate with other Development teams for General Ledger, Middle Office, Reporting, Architecture and Trading applications to create comprehensive systems and workflows.
* Define and implement custom database schema enhancements to support overall application enhancements.
Requirements
* 5-10 years experience working in enterprise application development teams building financial applications.
* Experience working directly with end users to understand requirements and demonstrate applications in progress.
* Experience with multiple languages, including Java, Adobe Flex and Python
* Prior experience working with frameworks and/or commercial financial applications with APIs.
* Prior experience in an environment that delivers frequent production releases to end users.
* Prior experience working in an environment with an emphasis on testing, utilizing unit test frameworks such as flexunit or jUnit as well as automated acceptance testing tools, either commercial or custom.
* A BA/BS college degree with academic exposure to Computer Science and/or other technology related academic topics.
