Job Summary:
A Senior Application Engineer is an individual who is well versed in the understanding of technology and strategic business acumen. The role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to provide solutions to a customer's business problem. The position requires a demonstrated ability to effectively engage internal and external customers related to the lifecycle of a project.
The Senior Application Engineer must have a successful track record managing projects through the entire project
lifecycle.
The role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and a proven ability in expectation
management.
Will ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.
Pre-sale support: This includes product demonstration, network cost generation and analysis, scope and/or
statement of work development, sales meetings, presentations, product training, and formal and informal RFP
responses. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to support pre-sale support
requirements.
Post-sale support: Post contract award, remote and on-site application engineering support during the
coordination, installation, implementation and maintenance phases of the project (this may include temporary placement at customer sites). Post sale support projects are defined by a scope of work. The scope of work shall include the assignment of project management responsibilities, systems engineer responsibilities and/or support engineer responsibilities. Other post-sale requirements may include consulting arrangements,
emergency on-site response, or other similar requirements. The Senior Application Engineer must be willing
and able to travel to support post-sale support requirements. This includes the installation, implementation, maintenance and/or support of our products.
Functional testing including the development of test plans associated with new product releases.
Other duties: Participate in special projects and perform related duties as assigned by department management.
Additional duties may include after-hour on-call support.
Experience: Knowledge Skill Requirements:
A minimum of five years systems engineering experience as demonstrated by a combination of network and systems
installation experience and network and systems maintenance experience. A minimum of 2 years systems
management experience is required.
Will need to have a broad knowledge of data networking products, features and functionality with emphasis on Routers and Switches, Routing protocols, Desktop protocols (TCP/IP, IPX, and Appletalk), Ethernet, and ATM/Frame Relay/ISDN.
Must have working knowledge of the OSI model. A working understanding of TCP/IP is required. Further, knowledge of four of nine listed concentration areas is also required:
Unix (including Linux), Database systems (SQL), Microsoft Products, Citrix Products, System architecture (Client Server or web based appliance), Cisco Multiservice Products, Cisco Remote Access Products; Cisco LAN Switching Products, Cisco Network Management Products, Cisco Voice Access Products, and Cisco IOS.
Effective oral and written communications skills are required. Individual will be expected to be able to give impromptu written and oral presentations to internal and external customers. As demonstrated by a combination of work and/or project management experience, Extensive computer skills, including the use of CAD drawing software such as Visio, are required. Familiarity with office productivity, such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and e-mail are also required.
Plus to have Cisco Certifications, CCNA, CCNP, CCVP.
