Director, Program Management - Ecommerce
Job Summary:
This role presents a leadership opportunity for a senior-level Project Management professional that encompasses all facets of project management, client management and team leadership. The Director, Program Management will be accountable for delivery of large scale Ecommerce engagements to clients as well as managing the client relationship from a delivery and commercial standpoint.
A Director of Program Management must have excellent program management skills capable of leading teams in distributed environments that are delivering complex business systems. Strong leadership, relationship building, and team management skills are key expectations. He/she must have a deep understanding of various commercial parameters and their business impact on delivery. Experience in managing Ecommerce projects will be vital to success in this role.
The Director of Program Management creates a positive team environment that leads to high performance standards, and demonstrable growth. He/She will be a mentor and coach, focused on the individual development of team members. The Director will also contribute to the continual improvement and development of the Program Management Domain and community through training/mentoring others, knowledge sharing and leveraging best practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
Structures and manages integrated projects and programs to achieve expected business results
Manages large, complex projects/programs (50-100 people) to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality
Participates in proposal efforts and can sell Sapient value proposition
Leads diverse teams (i.e., multiple domains, across geographies, potential partners involved) to deliver integrated client solutions that achieve measurable business results for our clients
Manages the financial profitability of the engagement - costs, collections, etc.
Responsible for relationships with client's senior leadership team and communicates status and issues regularly
Shaping follow-on opportunities for Sapient at existing clients
Identifying business development opportunities for Sapient with new or existing clients
Plans Sapient projects or work packages up front by leading the estimation efforts
Mobilizes and manages a team to execute against project plans
Manages the growth of the project team
Experience Guidelines:
Minimum of 12 years of Project and Program Management experience required
Previous experience in a client facing role within a global consulting firm
Experience in Ecommerce project/program management required
Experience in sales efforts such as writing proposals, RFP responses and other sales related activities
Experience in multi channel commerce projects ideally for Fortune 500 Retailers and/or CPG firms is strongly desired
Experience in managing client accounts and managing a P&L preferred
Experience in both Fixed Time/Fixed price projects, and Time & Material projects
Strong estimation and risk management skills
Experience in managing multiple complex IT (full lifecycle) projects with teams of 40+ in a globally distributed environment
Proven ability to manage multiple programs and/or projects simultaneously (preferably in an integrated program)
Experience managing new build, upgrade and package implementation projects
Familiarity with Agile and Iterative Development (or other PM methodologies)
Frequent and extensive travel may be required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required - Computer Science, Engineering, or Business or related field desired.
