A. Basic Function:
Responsible for the development of product training materials for classroom and online training, working in conjunction with DoubleClick subject matter experts. This includes instructional design, development, and delivery of materials, following best practices in adult learning. Primary emphasis is on writing training materials appropriate to each mode of delivery (classroom, synchronous online, and asynchronous online). This role will also involve the use of various software authoring tools, as well as editing and proofreading of other courseware developers' writing.
B. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop product training, in conjunction with subject matter experts, for classroom, synchronous online, and asynchronous online delivery.
  • Update and publish product online courses and classroom materials, with attention to content, accuracy, clarity, graphics, and improved instructional design. (Will need to learn DoubleClick products.)
  • As necessary, participate in Readiness and Commercialization initiatives for DART Enterprise (DE) releases, ensuring action items for product training are handled effectively
  • Work with Product Management and DE Services personnel to understand product roadmap, and the way in which product training will need to support it.
  • Write storyboards, outlines, content and commentary.
  • Proof and edit the writing of others.
  • Stay current on e-learning trends and technologies so these can be applied to DoubleClick training content.
  • Actively share knowledge and expertise with others on the team. This can include articles and webinars.
    C. Knowledge and Skill Requirements

    Digital advertising industry awareness: Understand the current climate of DoubleClick's industry. Skills and knowledge include:
  • Knowledge of DoubleClick's position within the industry
  • Knowledge of competition's position within the industry
  • Understanding of future forces affecting the industry
  • Understanding of competition that exists outside the normal bounds of this industry
  • Prior experience working with an online publisher preferred
  • Prior experience working with 3rd party ad serving products preferred
  • Prior experience developing product training for enterprise software applications desired
    Experience in e-learning industry: Must have a good understanding of e-learning trends and know the existing and emerging technologies. Professional experience building training is required. Graduate training in instructional design is a plus. Skills and knowledge include:
  • Experience building engaging, interactive training for live and online delivery
  • Knowledge of the current and emerging trends
  • Knowledge of the current limitations of certain types of technology
  • High level of computer skills and experience with authoring tools
  • Experience with LMS
  • Cost/benefit analysis skills
  • Knowledge of vendors and their standing in the industry
  • Ability to understand the practical applications of each technology's features.
    English Usage and Editing: Ability to produce clear copy, skill working with authors and subject experts, and the ability to make quick, logical, and defensible decisions about style. The ability to edit documents, including attention to matters of consistency in all details of language and style.
    Learning design and development: Decide what combination of instructional methods, presentation methods, and distribution methods will best deliver the final program to the learner. Outline and create instructional materials that are suitable for electronic dissemination. Skills and knowledge include:
  • Understanding of and experience in applying adult learning principles to achieve engagement and effective learning.
  • Ability to write a design document
  • Storyboarding skills.
  • Ability to select instructional, presentation, and distribution methods
  • Basic HTML design skills and skill with software authoring tools
  • Knowledge of performance objectives
  • Ability to write content for online presentation
  • Ability to proof the work of others
  • Skill in designing assessments and simulations
