JOB SUMMARY:

Provides system administration and support of UNIX servers and workstations in Pearl River, to include system monitoring and tuning, software installations, data storage and recovery, and disaster recovery planning. Provides problem resolution and user support for all UNIX related issues. Platforms include Sun Solaris, HP/UX, and Silicon Graphics IRIX. Participates in the planning, coordination and installation of new hardware for UNIX and Storage Area Network (SAN). Provides TSM backup and restore support for all Pearl River servers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides support for all UNIX servers. Develops, documents and implements standard server configurations. Works closely with clients, technical staff, and vendors to resolve Levels I, II and III issues.
*Provides support for HP OVO and NNM monitoring of the Pearl River Data Center. Works closely with Level I and provides Level II and III support
Recommends, develops and implements server and related projects. Prepares instructions and documentation for installation. Monitors project status.
*Participates in the evaluation and selection of server hardware and software products.
*Provides SAN external storage implementation for UNIX, Novell and Windows servers in PR.
*Works closely with clients, technical staff, and vendors to resolve SAN technical issues.
*Provides support for TSM backup implementations for Pearl River.
*Works closely with technical staff and vendors to resolve backup and restore issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or related field.

*UNIX System Administration (Solaris, HP-UX, SGI, AIX)
*HP Openview Operations
*HP Network Node Manager
*Storage Array Network (SAN) training
*MS Project
  • Technical Skills:
    *A minimum of 5 years of related UNIX support experience with strong knowledge of UNIX system environment and prior experience in supporting a large UNIX installation.
    *Good knowledge of NIS, DNS, automounts, RAID disk subsystems, shell scripting, and logical file systems.
    *Good knowledge of computer networking, and prior experience in supporting a networked computer environment.
    *Knowledge of Storage Array Network concepts and components.
    *Strong knowledge of HP OVO and NNM ( 3 years experience as an HP OVO administrator)

    *Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiatives, assume responsibility, and make timely decisions
