<b> <u>B O & E, Broadcast Operations & Engineering</b> </u>

With offices and facilities in New York, LA, and Washington, the Broadcast Operations and Engineering Division is responsible for the ABC television network program distribution, including program origination for the recently launched ABC Family channel. BO & E also plans, designs and acquires equipment and broadcast facilities for the television network.



In partnership with news, sports and entertainment production units, the men and women

of B O &E provide operational and technical support resulting in over 125 hours of programming delivered to ABC affiliates each week.



ABC's BO&E Department seeks a Broadcast Technical Specialist.



The candidate will be responsible for management and analysis of a wide

range of broadcast computer-based systems and IP networks in an on-air

broadcast 24x7 environment. Candidate will assist in the design,

development, analysis, testing, and implementation of new broadcast

computer-based systems supporting file based content workflows and

computer controlled broadcast equipment. Other responsibilities will

include supervising support technicians, hands-on preventative

maintenance, in-service testing, modification, and implementation of

these systems.



These systems include those directly or indirectly related to computer

based broadcast operations such as:

Broadcast Automation

HD & SD Video Servers

A/V Routers

Intercom and communication systems

Video production switchers and audio consoles

Graphics systems and content sharing networks and storage systems

Avid editing and storage systems

Program related data insertion systems

Remote monitoring and diagnosis systems



This position includes working ''non-traditional'' hours (evenings, overnights, and weekends); consistent attendance is essential.



<b> <u>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS </b> </u>

College degree related to computer systems engineering or computer science AND broadcast technical experience.

Experience with: Broadcast Automation Systems (Harris a +)

Video Disk Servers (ProfileXP a +) A/V signal flows and broadcast devices typical in a television facility

Windows XP/NT/2000/2003 server/workstation OS (MCSE a +)
