Basic Function:
As part of M&T's Central Technology Division the Item Processing Business Analyst would be part of the many initiatives that are coming up this year and into next year.
Responsibilities:
Provides proactive relationship management to the Bank's internal customers. Assists internal customers with technical project consultation, initiation, requirements, solution alternatives, functional design, testing and implementation support.
Assists internal customers in addressing problems/issues of small to medium scope, day to day. Analyzes information, determines feasible solutions and makes recommendations.
Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and makes recommendations to fulfill business requirements.
Converts business requirements into functional specifications and functional designs on small to medium scope assignments.
Develops project assessments and plans to include activities to be performed, estimated timeframes and effort, with assistance from more senior personnel.
May project manage small scope efforts, under the guidance of a more senior business analyst or Team Leader.
Develops test plans and scripts; performs client testing for routine to moderately complex processes to ensure proper system functioning.
Provides consultation services to clients, technicians and Bank departments on basic to intricate functions of supported mainframe or distributed applications. 
Develops a thorough understanding of the business being supported and its functions, processes and operations.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of two to four years college with at least four years experience in a technology/systems analysis or operational support environment.
Requires a good understanding of the client area's functions, strong analytical and communication skills.
Very good analytical skills with the ability to understand development processes and technical concepts.
General knowledge of personal computers and the ability to effectively use word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Very familiar with what and how the supported applications functions are used by the client.
Demonstrates a good understanding of the business area's functions and operational environment.
Detail oriented, self-motivated; takes initiative to learn new skills and enhance overall knowledge.
Must possess time management skills and organization skills.
Very good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to the target audience.
Able to work effectively with client personnel in various organizational positions.
Quickly grasps new concepts.
Asserts ideas, encourages teamwork and acts as a role model.
Able to handle multiple tasks in support of various assignments.
Good project management skills.
Able to lead or actively participate in vendor demonstrations, project presentations, design sessions, etc.
Ideal Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience developing and executing test plans and scripts for system, system integrated, and user acceptance testing
Ability to translate business requirements into system functional specifications
General awareness of the Bank's application framework.
Possesses a broad understanding of the Bank and of the business unit's role and how they fit into the organization.
Experience with Check Solutions check processing applications, CPCS, SuperMICR, Sort Pattern Generator (SPG), Multi-Site Utilities, Online Reconcilement System (ORSS), Automated Cash Letter System (ACLS), and Metavante VECTOR:Sort, Carreker Branch Truncation Manager, SEI MICR8000, FSS Image Reject Correction System
Experience with distributed item-processing applications such as Metavante's VECTOR:Image Ex, VECTOR:MICRComplete, VECTOR:Emulation, and VECTOR:Capture for Prime Pass, NCR's Remote Deposit Capture, and NCR's ImageMark Transaction Manager.
