Basic Function
As a member of the Project Services Group in IT's Project Management Office, this Sr Project Manager would be responsible for running large projects end-to-end.
Responsibilities:
Leads and manages all aspects of large and complex projects throughout the entire project lifecycle from initiation to post-implementation review.
Understands business and technical objectives of a project and works closely with project sponsor to achieve project goals.
Manages and tracks project schedule, scope and budget.
Establishes project organization and methodologies and defines roles and responsibilities. Documents risks and develops mitigation plans, Manages scope.
Creates and implements a project communication plan.
Builds an effective team, assigns tasks to team members, and evaluates outcomes.
Communicates to stakeholders and project sponsor.
Identifies, tracks, and ensures resolution of issues and removal of barriers.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Secures resources from resource managers to appropriately staff project teams.
Works with technology and business partners to secure project funding.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience leading all aspects of large and complex projects throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Experience with large software implementations and/or organizational change management Project Management Planning and Scheduling
Issue Management and Resolution
Risk Management and Mitigation
Resource Management
Budget development and management
Scope Management, Change Management and Requirements Management
Understanding of project life cycle methodology
Ability to work within the organization and understand the agendas and perspectives of others.
Ability to present to and communicate with Senior and Executive Management
Excellent problem solving skills to assist in detecting issues and potential risks
Must be able to work effectively with clients, IT management and staff personnel
Requires strong judgment and excellent decision making skills
Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills
Asserts ideas, encourages teamwork and acts as a role model when leading and directing others
Understands the project purpose and employs the use of a work breakdown structure, critical paths and Gantt charts, as well as other tracking reports
Ability to proficiently use project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to the target audience
Demonstrates diplomatic negotiating skills and excellent interpersonal skills
Detail oriented and self motivated
Ideal Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred, MBA highly desired
10 years of project management highly desired.
PMP Certification
Understanding of Banking or financial industry especially item processing and bank operations.
Management of diverse project teams both on-shore and off-shore
Managing multiple vendor relationships.
