As a member of an operations team, within the larger technology group, he/she will be responsible for the 24x7x365 operational support of portal site applications. Specific and daily tasks include installation, configuration, problem determination, administration and ongoing operational maintenance of diverse systems and applications that support all the company's sites which are located in multiple data centers. He/she is responsible for following established procedures, enhancing processes and maintaining updated operational documentation. A core understanding of network operating systems, their respective protocols and the associated hardware are perquisites for this position. Excellent communication, collaboration, project planning skills and the ability to take ownership are necessary traits.


Technical Requirements:

Excellent problem determination and analytic skills / experience
Solid experience maintaining Red Hat Linux server systems
Solid experience maintaining MS 200X server systems
Solid knowledge of TCP/IP and MS networking protocols and its services (DNS, AD, DHCP, etc.)
Hands on experience of supporting Apache, MS IIS and Tomcat servers
Hands on experience of supporting .Net and Java based applications
Working experience and knowledge of Oracle, MS SQL databases,
Experience supporting and configuring Weblogic servers is a plus
Development experience with various languages, shell (bash) and/or Perl scripting abilities is a plus

Responsibilities:

Provide first and second level application/system support via our internal ticketing systems
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams relative to problem determination
Install and configure new applications and systems
Assist developers, QA testers and Lead Support Staff in project specific work.
Analyze / resolve issues with systems and applications in a timely fashion
Evaluate and recommend new systems or products in regards to efficiency and performance
Collaborate with PMO and QA teams to coordinate successful project completion
Capacity planning, system tuning and performance enhancements
Assist with server virtualization leveraging VMWare
Proficient with installing & supporting Linux and MS 200X systems on enterprise hardware
Conduct light MS SQL, MySQL and Oracle database administration
Create and assist in preparing department reports as required.
Assist in problem determination analysis for all software and hardware issues,
Ensure 24/7 reliability and service delivery by participating in an on-call rotation
Preferred Education / Experience

Minimum two to five years experience in a medium to large IT environment
Experience planning and implementing projects inclusive of applications and databases.
An ability to work effectively and professionally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Computer Science desirable.
