Basic Function:
As part of M&T's Central Technology Division the Senior Item Processing Business Analyst would be part of the many initiatives that are coming up this year and into next year.
Responsibilities:
Provides proactive relationship management to the Bank's internal customers. Assists internal customers with technical project consultation, initiation, requirements, solution alternatives, functional design, testing and implementation support. Coordinates project activities between internal customers and information technology, including project portfolio management and project pipeline planning.
Responsible for the management of all activities related to the successful planning, documenting, testing and implementation of all work performed by the team. Provides detailed direction and performs specialized analysis and research of systems modifications to solve any scope problem or enhancement. Assigns resources and monitors progress of all assignments; ensures completion of schedules. Performs and oversees application development and testing efforts, including the review of specifications, preparation and execution of testing.
Ability to act as a client liaison to review priorities and manage the overall client queue. Recommends new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Typically will lead technical evaluations of vendor software.
Provides consultation services to clients, technicians and Bank departments on basic to intricate functions of supported mainframe or distributed applications. Develops or oversees the development of test plans and scripts; performs client testing for routine to complex processes to ensure proper system functioning.
Maintains a thorough understanding of the business being supported and its functions, processes, operations and strategic direction.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of two to four year's college with at least seven years experience in project related work, systems analysis and a systems development environment.
Prior management experience required.
Experience on large system enhancements, conversions and production problem resolution.
Requires a complete understanding of a project life cycle methodology.
Excellent problem solving skills to assist in detecting potential issues and issue resolution.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to the target audience.
Must be able to work effectively with clients, IT management and staff personnel.
Detail oriented and self motivated.
Excellent analytical, problem resolution, organization and time management skills.
Asserts ideas, encourages teamwork and acts as a role model when leading and directing others.
Ability to handle multiple tasks at a time.
Demonstrates diplomatic negotiating skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Ideal Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or above preferred.
An understanding of multiple business area's functions is preferred.
Good understanding of the Bank's enterprise architecture.
Keeps abreast of the Bank's business plan and strategic objectives.
General awareness of the Bank's application framework.
Possesses a broad understanding of the Bank and of the business unit's role and how they fit into the organization.
Experience developing and executing test plans and scripts for system, system integrated, and user acceptance testing
Ability to translate business requirements into system functional specifications Experience with Check Solutions check processing applications, CPCS, SuperMICR, Sort Pattern Generator, Multi-Site Utilities, Online Reconcilement System, Automated Cash Letter System, and Metavante VECTOR:Sort, Carreker Branch Truncation Manager, SEI MICR8000, FSS Image Reject Correction System
Experience with distributed item processing applications such as Metavante's VECTOR:Image Ex, VECTOR:MICRComplete, VECTOR:Emulation, and VECTOR:Capture for Prime Pass, NCR's Remote Deposit Capture, and NCR's ImageMark Transaction Manager.
