BASIC FUNCTION:
As part of M&T's NCS/Technology Infrastructure division the Staff Specialist provides designs, specifies information systems solutions and highly technical direction in the development of new or existing systems to solve basic to complex problems or enhancements.  Acts as a principal analyst for major systems modifications effectively using analytical skills, technical skills, available technology and tools in the evaluation of business requirements and processes.  Provides solutions that are technologically sound
RESPONSIBILITES:
Performs and oversees basic to complex infrastructure systems analysis and design efforts. 
Plays a key role as an individual contributor on complex projects.  
Maintains an excellent functional understanding of the supported application(s).
Must be able to direct and monitor project resources, plus coordinate tasks on small to large scope projects. 
Prepares and manages the technical component of project plans.
Participates with systems analysts, operations staff and IT staff in overall systems development direction from technical analysis to user acceptance testing and production support. 
Prepares and reviews test data and executes detailed test plans.
Creates technical procedures and documentation for repeatable processes.
Ability to forecast and track project expenses.
Creates changes in change management system.
Provides highly analytical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies to assist business units in meeting strategic objectives.
Prepares thorough, clear technical specifications and functional specifications, and updates systems documentation. 
Prepares charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analyzing problems. 
Prepares and reviews assessments to include required tasks, estimated time frames and effort for any scope project.  
Maintains efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications. 
Recommends new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. 
May lead or participate in technical evaluations of vendor software.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Proven Technical Proficiency in Microsoft Network Infrastructure.
Familiarity and experience with Novell infrastructure products
5 years experience with distributed computing technical analysis in large corporate environment
Bachelor's degree in technical field or 3-5 years professional experience in related environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Financial or banking experience
MBA or Master's degree in related field
