A well known financial company in the New York City area is looking for a Network Engineer.



Individual must be flexible with their availability.



Scope of position:

Work to ensure that F5 load balancers, 3DNS, GTM's are implemented,

maintained and highly available. Where needed, configure or troubleshoot Cisco network equipment that supports the connectivity to the F5 devices.

Develop scripts to automate tasks as needed.This position will consist of projects, tasks, changes, documenting, training others.



Main Responsibilities:

Maintain and support web hosting/load balancing environment consisting of 3DNS, BigIP devices, SSL accelerators, HTTP compressors and DNS servers while staying within all Thomson policies and Change Management procedures. Coordinate upgrades and changes with business entities and Thomson Global Technology Infrastructure groups. Be detail oriented and produce regular documentation to effectively manage the load balancing environment. Have a thorough knowledge of the load balancing in a geographically dispersed environment and be able to make and perform changes where needed. Have a working knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls; basic EIGRP/BGP routing concepts, IP/ARP/MAC issues, troubleshooting VLAN or physical connectivity to F5 devices and servers, troubleshooting Cisco access-list and NAT issues. Have thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, flags and be able to troubleshoot

connectivity issues using Wireshark/Tcpdump/snoop. Have thorough knowledge of DNS, SSL certificate, Cookies, HTTP protocol issues,

HTTP compression, SSL accelerators, and be able to troubleshoot issues of above. Opening work tickets and providing support with production outage software installations. Responsible for gathering/coordinating resources from other technology teams, if necessary to complete project deadlines.

Review project specifications and make recommendations for

improvements. Follow through on assigned project tasks and consultations/conference calls. Travel to remote sites as appropriate to participate in data center moves, server installs, and team meetings.
