The primary role of this position is to Performance/Load/Stress test internal and external systems/applications utilizing the Mercury LoadRunner tool suite.
The scope of these responsibilities includes designing, developing and executing customized LoadRunner performance tests at all levels of the enterprise,
reporting potential performance issues, and creating statistical models to monitor performance deviations.
Core Responsibilities of the Role:
Develops a thorough understanding of the operations and functions of the company's family of brand and shared service applications
Develops relationships with the Software Engineering, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Infrastructure team
Develops a testing plan/schedule and maintain test matrix based on development completions and project timelines.
Communicates with Project Managers, Systems Architects, Systems Analyst, DBA's and Software Engineers to gather requirements for testing and develop estimates for testing execution
Writes effective test scripts within the framework of approved testing tools (Mercury Interactive - Load Runner, Win Runner) using documented requirements and technical specifications provided by the project team
Constructs Test case and Test scripts, sets up and configures stress servers, the definition of performance metrics, execution of detailed stress runs and collection/analysis of stress results
Constructs test plans to address the testing needs of load, stress and performance testing
Updates project tracking tools as needed i.e. MS Project Plan
Education & Experience:
BS degree in Computer Science
3 - 5 years experience implementing and executing on LoadRunner versions
Minimum 3+ years of testing experience - writing test plans, cases, and scripts
Previous project/test management/planning experience
Solid scripting and programming skills (with emphasis on C/C++, Visual Basic, VBScript, Java, SQL and Batch Files)
Understanding of software architecture technologies (e.g. HTML, VB, .Net, XML, Java, Web Services, SOA, SOAP, Unix/Linux knowledge)
Experience with the following protocols: Citrix, HTTP and Web Services
Experienced with the LoadRunner monitors and Analysis tool
Experience with software quality assurance methodologies and actual hands-on testing
Experience with Mercury's Quality Center
Experience with Software Quality Assurance Methodologies.
Pluses:
Mercury Certification (CPC, CPS, CI); Experience with QuickTest Pro; Experience with Web services
Skills:
Technical / Process / Q-A & Performance Testing Skills
Comprehensive understanding of how to set up a test (i.e. test duration, test ramp-up/down speed, determining the number of users to test with based on total user population)
Interpret test results and data to identify performance bottlenecks caused by code, configuration issues, hardware, etc.
Practical/Reasoning/Communication Skill
